ery saddened to see so many hundreds of thousands of people suffering from chronic diseases, particularly Lyme disease, without getting the help and support they need. There is so much you can do just by introducing the right foods into your diet. Also, natural therapies, such as herbal supplementation and detoxification practices, as an adjunct to conventional treatments, can have so much impact on your well being and recovery. I don't claim to know everything about these diseases and they are very complex, but if you have any questions about natural methods to help your condition, please post on here and I will do what I can to answer them. I also provide consultations in person and on Skype. So wherever you are in the world, I may be able to help you. Please visit my website for more information or to book a consultation.

Anxiety doesn't just live in your head—it changes the physiology of your gut. 🧠↔️🍂

If you’ve been struggling to recover from chronic gut issues like SIBO, Crohn’s, or ulcerative colitis despite changing your diet, your nervous system might be the missing piece of the puzzle.

When your body is stuck on the "gas pedal" (the sympathetic, fight-or-flight state), digestion is treated as a non-essential survival function. Your brain actively diverts blood flow away from your stomach and intestines.

❌ The SIBO Connection: Stress inhibits vagus nerve activity, which effectively "switches off" the migrating motor complex (MMC). Without this essential "cleansing wave" sweeping through, food remnants and bacteria stagnate. This creates the perfect breeding ground for bacteria to overgrow in the small intestine and ferment, producing uncomfortable gases. 💨🤢

❌ The IBD Connection: The vagus nerve plays a crucial role in controlling inflammation in the gut. When anxiety mutes your vagal tone, your immune system becomes imbalanced, allowing inflammatory cytokines to irritate and damage the intestinal lining.

How to shift the dial?
You have to manually step on the "brake pedal" (the parasympathetic, rest-and-digest state) to allow your tissue to repair and to switch your motility back on.

A Simple Technique to Start Today:
🌬️ Practice 5:7 Breathing: Inhale through your nose for 5 seconds, then exhale slowly for 7 seconds. Prolonging the exhale directly improves vagal function and slows your heart rate.

Head over to my YouTube channel, where I cover this connection in much greater detail and share a nifty method for tracking your improvements in vagal tone.

🔍 IBS vs. IBD: Do you know the difference?

Today is World IBD Day, a vital time to raise awareness for the millions of people navigating Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Because they sound so similar and share identical symptoms like bloating, cramping, and unpredictable bathroom trips, IBD is often mistaken for IBS. However, they require completely different testing, dietary and functional medicine approaches.

👇

To honour World IBD Day and help you take the first step toward freedom from gut issues, I’m offering 10% off your initial consultation OR 10% off your first order of supplements.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in SIBO recovery is jumping straight into a "seek and destroy" mission. If you start killing bacteria before your body is ready, those dying microbes release toxins (LPS) that can leave you feeling worse than when you started.

This is known as a Die-Off reaction, and it doesn’t have to be your reality!

In my latest blog post, I’m breaking down my 5 Pillars of Preparation—the exact protocol I use with my clients to strengthen the gut and support the liver before we move on to the antimicrobial phase.

What’s inside the 5-Pillar Protocol:
✅ How to seal the gut lining to keep toxins out of your blood.
✅ The "master antioxidant" your liver needs right now.
✅ A simple bath ritual to support your nervous system.
✅ Why "Activated" B vitamins are a game-changer for detox.
✅ The secret to ensuring toxins actually leave your body (so they don't recirculate!).

Don't just push through the pain. Build your foundation first for a much smoother path to a bloat-free life.

One of the most common mistakes people make when tackling SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is approaching it like a ‘seek and destroy’ mission. We often feel so desperate to get rid of the bloating, brain fog, and irregular bowel movements that we want to jump straight into the "kill...

Resolving gut issues shouldn't feel like a tangled mess😵‍💫😵‍💫. If you can't tolerate probiotics due to SIBO or IBS or inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's & ulcerative colitis), the postbiotic, butyrate, could be your game-changer.

Fantastic for gut healing, downregulating inflammation and providing the right terrain for your won gut flora to grow and thrive. 🌿🌞

Resolving your gut issues might feel like you're just stabbing in the dark. 🤫

It's very easy to get into a tangled mess trying to work out what helps and what makes things worse with IBS/SIBO (small intestinal bacterial approach).
You need a systematic approach.

The 3-Step Reset:
1️⃣ The 2-Week SIBO Diet: We starve the overgrowth just enough to find your baseline. (Don't stay here too long!)
2️⃣ The Breath Test: Stop guessing. We need to know if it’s Hydrogen or Methane so we can target it correctly.
3️⃣ Single-Ingredient Support: I use a gut healer, a prokinetic (boosts motility) & low-fodmap fibre as part of my core protocol.

Why single ingredients?
If you have a sensitive gut you want to avoid a barrage of ingredients. And if you react it is easier to work out what is not working for you.
