FIAQ Seminar 3 – Event Recap - AI & Data in the Food Industry

Thank you to everyone who joined us for FIAQ’s third Industry Seminar on October 22 at CSIRO! It was a fantastic evening of learning, discussion, and connection — with a strong focus on the evolving role of AI and data in the food and beverage sector.

A few key takeaways from the night:
🔹 Des Bowler (Management for Technology / Data42) explored the power of data — highlighting the importance of data validation, integrity, and how businesses can turn raw data into meaningful, actionable insights.
🔹 Joel Andrade walked us through the practical applications of AI across the food and beverage supply chain, opening our eyes to the endless opportunities emerging across production, customer experience, and innovation.

💬 The event wrapped up with a great open discussion — attendees shared how they’re using different platforms and tools in their businesses, exchanged tips on next steps, and floated the idea of hands-on workshops as part of future FIAQ events.

Thank you again to our speakers, attendees, and community for making the night such a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation — and diving even deeper into these topics in future sessions!

🥕 Volunteer with Purpose – Join Us in the FareShare Kitchen! 🥕

Did you know that 3.4 million Australian households faced food insecurity in 2024—yet as a nation, we waste 8 million tonnes of food every year?

That’s where FareShare steps in. They rescue quality surplus food from supermarkets, farms, and businesses, turning it into nutritious, delicious meals for people in need. These meals are then distributed—free of charge—to front-line charities including homeless shelters, women’s refuges, First Nations communities, and local food banks.

More than just a hot meal, these plates send a powerful message: someone cares. 💛

FIAQ is organising a volunteering evening at FareShare’s Brisbane kitchen—and we’d love for you to be part of it! It’s a rewarding team-building experience that boosts connection and culture while giving back to the community in a very real way.
👨‍🍳 Spaces are limited to 20, with preference given to members.
