~ The woman on the left had protein smoothies for breakfast, the one on the right has steak and avocado. Similar amount of protein, entirely different source.

~ The woman on the left had huge amounts of stress in her life, the woman on the right got clear about who and what deserved a place in her life and made s**t happen.

~ The woman on the left was inflamed AF from chronic mould exposure, the woman on the right is 12 months post exposure and continuing to heal every day.

~ The woman on the left was moving her body, the woman on the right dialled it in and focused on consistency rather than intensity.

Weight and health have so many influencing factors that includes what you’re putting in your mouth, to what toxins you might be exposed to, to the quality of your sleep, and what words, thoughts and people you allow into your sphere.

It is so individualised that we should not accept the “eat less, move more” bulls**t anymore. But it is widely accepted that there are five foundations of health that we can all individually tune into and work on to improve our health outcomes:

🫐 Nutrition
🏋🏼‍♀️ Movement
😴 Sleep
😵‍💫 Stress management
👯‍♀️ Connection

Focusing on one without paying attention to the others will still give you shaky foundations.

There’s 12 months between these photos. Health is a marathon, not a sprint, and to expect results in a set timeframe can set you up to fail. Make changes in a methodical, sustainable way and do your own comparison in 12 months time - I guarantee you’ll see an improvement ❤️

‼️ If you’d like a copy of our eBook “Female Foundations” - discussing these foundations of health, DM me “Foundations” and I’ll send through the info x

This whole time I thought my Instagram photos were pushing to Facebook and they weren’t 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

So hi there! I have been a bit (unintentionally) quiet on this page for some time but now I’ve figured the problem out, I’ll be here more often!

I wanted to post and let you all know that there have been some changes to my clinic days after I made the decision to scale back my clinical practice. I am now only in clinic on Saturday’s, which turns out to a very popular day being outside of work hours so if you’re wanting to book in please do so ahead of time.

I also have a new booking system too! So if you’ve been trying to book online and the link is leading you to a dead end, please use the link below to book in 🩷

Wrapping up this epic week and reflecting on some huge patient wins. Here’s a few of the wins week:
🤍 a new patient reduce their lifelong reflux, improve their digestion and reduce their IBS symptoms in just two weeks
🤍 a return patient who has dealt with lifelong digestive and genitourinary symptoms, now not living with them at all and successfully reintroducing foods into her diet
🤍 a patient 6 weeks into treatment stop taking roaccutane because her acne is non existent
🤍 a patient who has been dealing with recurrent skin infections receiving her gut test results showing an overgrowth of a bacteria linked to skin infections and cellulitis
🤍 a client receive her vaginal microbiome results showing two major imbalances that have likely contributed to her infertility

Pinch me. This “job” is epic 🌟

Happy Friday!

Protein is a hotly debated topic but the importance and clinical significance of adequate protein intake is widely recognised.

I don’t advise obsessive counting of macros but I do believe it is important to know if you’re eating appropriate amounts of protein for optimal performance (taking into account lifestyle, mental and physical activity and age). I find most women under eat protein - impacting energy, hormone balance, cognitive function and mood.

Animal sources have the highest bioavailability, and I recommend sources primarily come from food rather than protein shakes, however protein powder added to a smoothie can support topping up your intake.

I actually shudder when I see this stuff show up in my feed.

Food doesn’t JUST provide us energy through calories. There is so much more to it than that. In fact, for weight loss I often see most women needing to increase their calories. You see, in a state of under eating the brain literally goes into feast or famine mode, and in this state it can cause you to hold on to weight more than losing it.

These comparisons are probably well intended - eat the delicious food “guilt free” because it fits your calories and your macros. What these posts fail to acknowledge is:

🫐 Our food also provides us with micronutrients - essential for our biochemistry
❤️ Cultivating a healthy mindset around food often means undoing an obsession with calorie counting
🍟 Processed foods can also contain a heap of unwanted ingredients that may drive symptoms in some people

I could go on, but you get my point.

I am all for the 80/20 rule - my patients know full well that Nodo donuts are a regular in my life. But what I am also for is:
💚 Connecting women to their bodies and creating a healthy relationship with food
🍽️ Advocating for a macro-balanced, micronutrient rich diet
👯‍♀️ Individualised nutrition for everyone - because your biochemistry and what your body needs is different to your friends

F**k counting calories, count nutrients instead 😉

3 weeks ago I stepped foot in a gym for the first time since this little dude was a baby. As someone who used to train for and do triathlons, not being in the gym for that period of time sucked.

But I had to be real with where my body was at, and what type of exercise was right for me over these last few years. I also had to resign to the fact that maybe my usual gym routines weren’t the best for me while I focused more on diet, nailing my supplement regime and working on stress management.

My point is, we’re not always going to feel 100%, and that’s ok. Health isn’t a fixed principle and it can change based on many circumstances - some within our control and others not within our control.

The important thing is to trust the process, stay consistent with the aspects of your daily routine that you know promote positive health outcomes, and know that even on the days where you’re feeling like nothing is working and it’s all for nothing, that brighter days are just around the corner ❤️

Today as you set your goals for the week ahead, consider readjusting your self expectation and instead of aiming for perfection, aim to be 1% better each day.

This means you’re still working on your goals and making forward progress without placing pressure on yourself to nail it in a short period of time.

This might look like making a more balanced choice for lunch, taking time to journal for 15 minutes one day, choosing to take 30 mins to move your body, or opting for a non alcoholic beverage instead of your usual 5pm wine time - not all in one.

Remember we’re aiming for progress, not perfection, and by taking the “slow and steady” approach it’ll be much easier to keep your eyes on your goals without getting burnt out in the process 💫

Enjoy your Sunday x

Chloe Halter Nutrition

Hi there, I’m Chloe! Thanks for stopping by!

I’m a Brisbane based clinical nutritionist with a passion and love for the key role that diet and nutrition plays in health. I believe our forks are the most powerful tool we have to overcoming chronic disease, and that no-one is too young or too old to learn how diet influences their health. Being a parent, family nutrition is a topic close to my heart and I love seeing how food can bring families together and help each member flourish - from improving mums and dads energy levels, to ensuring adequate intake in children to help them thrive at school.

If you’d like more information on how I might be able to help you achieve your health goals, get in via Facebook Messenger or send me an email to hello@chloehalter.com.au
