Huge thank you to Dan and Ben from Dan Everson Podiatry for such an engaging and insightful in-service on their Sensokinetic orthoses.
We loved learning how their approach differs from traditional orthoses — instead of simply supporting the foot, Sensokinetic works to enhance ankle power and improve overall movement quality.
Drawing on neuromotor facilitation research and the "Spinal Engine" concept, Dan highlighted the importance of dynamic stability from top to toe. A key takeaway? Foot pain isn't just about the foot — it requires a thorough assessment of the entire kinetic chain including the neck, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles.
One of our favourite concepts was the idea of the ideal vs preferred gait pattern. While we're born with an ideal movement pattern, life and injuries can shift us into a preferred one. These orthoses help guide the body back to its ideal pattern, acting as a reminder rather than teaching something new.
We were hooked from start to finish and loved seeing the passion behind the research and clinical application.
If you're looking to enhance your movement and reduce foot pain, it might be time to explore Sensokinetic orthoses!
