π¨ Last-Minute Preparations for Tropical Cyclone Alfred π¨
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) advises that Tropical Cyclone Alfred is moving slowly towards the southeast Queensland coast. Expect rainfall, strong winds, and hazardous ocean conditions to persist tonight and over the weekend. Conditions will worsen as the cyclone gets closer to land.
What You Need to Do NOW:
πΉ Charge Devices β Fully charge phones, power banks, and rechargeable lights.
πΉ Secure Loose Items β Bring in or secure outdoor furniture (including the trampoline and plant pots, etc.), bins, and anything that could possibly become a projectile.
πΉ Fill Containers & the bath/sinks with Water β In case of supply disruptions, store drinking and washing water.
πΉ Prepare a Safe Space β Identify the safest room in your home (small, windowless, and sturdy).
πΉ Check your Emergency Kit β Ensure you have torches, batteries, first-aid supplies, medications, and important documents.
πΆ For Children: Keep them reassured and informed in a calm way and prepare comfort items like favourite toys, books, or activities.
πΆ For Pets: Keep them inside, if possible, in a secure, quiet area and ensure they have food, water, and familiar bedding. Have leashes, carriers, and any medications ready in case of evacuation.
