We are thrilled to share this heartfelt letter from Lucille, a 93-year-old Sundale Palmwoods Hostel resident who recently experienced an unforgettable journey with OliveExpress. Her words beautifully capture the joy and wonder our immersive train journeys bring to the lives of our cherished seniors. Thank you, Lucille, for reminding us why we do what we do. Your gratitude and delight inspire us every day.
Dear Che,
Unfortunately, I do not know your wifeβs name, but this letter is addressed to you both, as I understand you are partners in the planning, building, and operation of the Olive Express!!
I am 93 years of age, a resident of Sundale Palmwoods Hostel, and was privileged to journey to the Swiss Alps with you on Wednesday, 5th June this week.
You may remember, I shook your hand and thanked you for giving our 10 residents this wonderful trip. I want to thank you on behalf of us all.
As I said, for me, it was completely unique, brilliant, innovative, delightful. I am unable to express my full feelings of sitting, enjoying the lovely high tea, in the superb old railway carriage surroundings, with the scenery of the incomparable Swiss Alps passing beside the train! Then, to see you fold up the ramp and wave to me, as you drove away! I was βgobsmacked,β to put it in modern language!
At this older age, one does not expect to be amazed, but I am! I shall never forget the βOlive Express,β and will speak of it often!
Once again, thanks to you both for this never-to-be-forgotten experience.
Lucille A. Watson
