Hi everyone!
Here are some updates on the longest awaited non-cash grab game ever.
We are considering some kind of Kickstarter. But before that, what we are looking into is releasing a very minor version of the game as we are going from scratch. We are reconsidering our creature style and many other things as what Palworld has achieved legally has a been quite a surprise! Which has opened up a lot of possibilities. Going forward how we proceed will open up the doors for you all to have input that can still be considered. We may even have creature mash up rounds where people can vote or even share their own concepts of creatures and characters. Even if you want to do A.I gen and you find one you think would suit our world perfectly.
To be clear though: We intend to make a demo test-game with limited creatures at first. This will show some small world exploration mechanics with a mixture of battles and capturing creatures.
Currently we are tossing up between launching that for free or with a small fee to support the work going forward. If you have ideas on how this could or should work, you are more than welcome to share! This past year I have been saving money from my regular 9-5 job in hopes to give it another good kick off and fullfill one of my dreams and promises to you all.
Please remember, this is not a cash grab otherwise I (Brian) would have launched a Crowd funding game 10 years ago when we were blowing up in little news articles etc. So far I would be happy getting together what is needed to make the game a reality and then just celebrate whatever follows. As you may have read about in one of my previous posts.
If you haven't read my previous posts, it's simply delayed due to health, mental health and personal life challenges.
Also, Fabled Apps is rebranding.
I have another page that I created during Covid lockdowns called Big Kid Nation which will be the name of our Game Development company going forward. It's not presented well yet, but most of the news and idea brain storming will be shared there in future.
Fyi - all the inbox messages are very welcome! But if I don't reply for a while please do not take it personally. Eventually you will see that I am full steam back in to development and will dedicate time t to replying to everyone.
Game goals:
1. The first iteration of the game will be 2D, similar to that of Stardew Valley and Suikoden 2.
2. Focussed on an older audience with some dark themes, but will try make it kid friendly as well. But by no means will this game be toned down for younger audiences.
3. There will be tournements similar to that of the Badge collecting and the Pokemon league.
4. There will also be a main story, that has nothing to do with rising to championship glory. But more about hard and dark times in the world that you will have the option to help with.
5. Turn based battles are on the table, however we have many concepts of non-turn based or semi-turn based battles.
6. The capture system will be done via a special gauntlet on your wrist, plus other weapons and tools.
7. Your Hero will be able to partake in combat and level up himself (the plan since day 1)
Additionally, we would like branch stories and modes where you play as different classes, such as one who does not capture creatures but is a fully fledged warrior themself. But this will be a stretch goal.
Lastly, we are also looking into ways to make the game one huge game. Rather than releasing number 2, 3, 4 and 5. We may consider endless expansions, but are unsure of the limitations of this.
Oh and one thing I personally want to do the most is a bloodline mode. Because I remember the days where I would play the hell out of a Pokemon game and start over again and again. But in this case I would like to implement a feature where you can have a child and do a second, third forth run through championship mode and you have a family record which shows a shot of each player you played as and their main team and playthrough stats. (Wins/losses catches etc etc) and overall stats.
^^^^ These are things I didn't want to share before the game was actually public, but you all deserve to know.
Also considering some kind of basic construction mode. (Inspired by Palworld) But perhaps not in depth, but you never know what the future will hold.
