On Sunday 23rd November, we gathered for a beautiful Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at , hosted through , and it was simply delightful!

Twelve ladies came together, got creative, shared plenty of laughs, and each walked away with our very own unique, crafty, handmade Christmas wreath, ready to bring some festive cheer to our homes. ๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŒฟ

But more than the wreaths and the festive fun, the heart of these events is bringing our community together. They provide a safe, welcoming space where our ladies can share their experiences however haemophilia touches their life.

Many conversations today revolved around these shared journeys, and the ladies often say how comforting it is to talk with others who truly understandโ€ฆ to connect, to relate, and to realise theyโ€™re not alone. โค๏ธ

With a lovely platter to enjoy and great company all around, it truly was a morning well spent.

Thank you to all the wonderful women who joined us! Itโ€™s moments like these that make our HFQ community so special. ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

? The gene alteration causing haemophilia is passed down from parent to child through generations.
Men with haemophilia will pass the gene alteration on to their daughters but not their sons.

Women who carry the gene alteration can pass it on to their sons and daughters.

Haemophilia is a hereditary condition and occurs in families. However, in 1/3 of cases it appears in families with no previous history of the disorder. This is called a 'spontaneous mutation' and occurs when there is a gene mutation or alteration during reproduction.

Our Story

HFQ is is a patient advocacy and support organisation working to improve the lives of people affected by haemophilia and other bleeding disorders. We run annual camps for young people, coming to terms with a bleeding disorder in their family or themselves; and a community camp to provide a safe space for education, discussion ...and fun. We also offer meetings and peer support opportunities. HFQ operates as a not for profit organisation run by a board of management and its effectiveness is dependent upon the goodwill of many volunteers which includes people affected personally by bleeding disorders and representatives of governments, health sector and industry who may also contribute their skills, knowledge and time to achieve common goals. The day to day operations of the Foundation are managed by the coordinator, from the office in Brisbane.
