Thinking of running a 6-Week Knee Arthritis Program in Manly/Wynnum this June.
(Just gauging local interest to see if it's worth setting dates).

I'm looking to run a small, in-person group starting mid-to-late June for locals with arthritic knees who feel like they've been left to figure it out on their own, or want to explore options to help prevent or delay surgery.

Over six weeks, you'll get the knowledge to manage your knee—including a flare-up plan, exercises you can do at home, and enough understanding to make informed decisions about your care.

This is for you if:
- You've been told it's just "wear and tear" or to wait for surgery.
- You aren't sure what is actually safe to do anymore.
- You want to understand what's going on, not just get handed exercises on a sheet.

This is NOT for you if:
- You want someone else to do the hard work for you.

Before I lock in a room and set final dates, I just want to see if there is enough interest to make it happen.

If this would be useful to you or someone you know, please drop a comment below or message us. No commitment at all—this just tells me if I should go ahead and book the space.

Thinking about total knee replacement surgery?

It’s a big decision, but is it the first step?

Exploring the foundations, which include things like sleep and stress, matters just as much as the scan results.

"I did everything right... so why does it still hurt?" 💔

One of the hardest parts of my job is meeting someone who has already been through surgery, only to find their pain is still there. They feel let down, and honestly, they were.

Surgery can be a miracle for many, but it isn’t the only answer. Your pain is influenced by so much more than just what shows up on a scan.

Before you book that hospital bed, make sure you've explored the "drivers" behind the discomfort. You deserve to know all your options.

Something that surprises a lot of people with knee osteoarthritis: strength training doesn't have to take long, and it doesn't have to happen every day.

The research points to heavy enough weight for you, six repetitions, three sets, three times a week. That's the dose that actually helps reduce inflammation and support the joint.

A lot of people stop or don't even think that strength exercises can help when their knee is playing up.

Knee osteoarthritis - Rest it. No, keep moving. No, exercise. No, don't push through.

If you've been given conflicting advice about your arthritic knee, you're not alone — and it's not because people are making things up.

Short video today on why the advice is so contradictory, and how to start making sense of what's actually right for you.

Osteoarthritis and your knees ache after a walk. Is that a problem?

It's a common thing I hear from people with knee arthritis - does it mean you've done damage? Does it mean you need to rest?

Short video today - a few thoughts on what you can do.

Research suggests a large proportion of people diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis haven't tried any structured exercise — even though it's one of the most effective treatments available.

It's not laziness. It's usually fear. Fear of making things worse, of doing it wrong, of being told nothing will help anyway.

Happy to help out if you'd like to know your options - book an appointment, or start with the free guide to help you figure out all the different things that add to your pain.

Why 'rest' is often the worst thing for your knee osteoarthritis (OA).

The question last Friday: who's more likely to get knee OA - a runner or a desk worker?

The answer: The sedentary desk worker

Why?

The body is amazingly strong and adaptable. Unlike your muscles, your cartilage doesn't have its own blood supply. It relies on a "squeeze and release" mechanism - much like a sponge - to get nutrients and stay healthy.

- The runner: Is 'feeding' the joint through movement
- The desk worker: The joint is effectively starving for movement

If you’ve been told to "rest" your knee, you might just be letting the sponge dry out.

Want to understand the science of why movement is medicine?

I’ve recorded a 30-minute deep dive on our YouTube channel covering the modern pain science of OA and why your knees are more resilient than you’ve been led to believe.
