“Body Worlds: The Anatomy of Happiness”

This is a must see exhibition and was a profoundly moving experience that reignited my passion for the incredible human design. Witnessing the intricate details of our body's inner workings was a truly humbling and awe-inspiring experience.
I feel grateful to play a role in empowering patients to achieve happiness and wellness.

This enlightening exhibition is open to the public, offering a rare opportunity to explore the human body in remarkable detail. With its affordable ticket price and touring schedule, it's an experience not to be missed. Currently on display at Uptown, Brisbane, for a limited time, this exhibition is suitable for all ages.

The meticulous process of plastination is a testament to human ingenuity, allowing us to gaze upon real bodies and gain a deeper understanding of our own anatomy.
The exhibition also showcases surgical examples, disease progression, and the impact of lifestyle choices on our overall well-being. By emphasizing the importance of healthy habits and self-care, this exhibition inspires positive change and encourages us to take ownership of our happiness.
It's an experience that will leave you feeling inspired and motivated to prioritize your well-being. 🙂 💜

📚 Kids & Backpacks 📚
We've all seen the sea of schoolkids carrying their backpacks to and from school. Often the bags seem to be almost as big as the child carrying them. Overloaded, incorrectly packed and carried backpacks can lead to back, neck and shoulder strain and injury that can lead to ongoing issues that may last a lifetime.
Here are a few tips that your childs' spine will thank you for, even if your child doesn't 😉
🔹 Choose a backpack with compartments, wide straps, (about 5cm) and a waiststrap, to help distribute to weight.
🔹 Pack heavy items at the bottom and close to the back.
🔹 Tighten the shoulder straps so that the pack sits snugly, with the bottom on the waist and the top just below the base of the skull. Packs should never be carried over one shoulder.
🔹 Don't overfill packs. Consider using a second bag for carrying extra items.
🔹 Keep the pack weight at a maxium of 15% of your childs' body weight.
🔹 Encourage your kids to remove any items that are not needed for that day.

Bones are connected by joints. Some joints, such as those in the skull do not move.
Joints that move are called Synovial joints and account for most of the joints in your body. There are several different types of joints, each move differently.
🔽Ball and socket joints, such as found in hips and shoulders, are most mobile, allowing movement in many directions.
🔽Ellipsoidal joints bend and extend, such as the joint in the base of your index finger.
🔽Gliding joints, found between flat bones, some of which are found in your wrist and ankle, are held together by ligaments and allow the bones to move by gliding against each other.
🔽Hinge joints are found in your knee and elbow and move much the some as a door hinge.
🔽Pivot joints, found in the neck, allow for side to side movement.
They all have one thing in common though. Dr Sean knows how to get them moving properly. So make an appointment by calling 0404625022

Working from home, a few tips 👍

Hi there, Dr Séan Dillon here.

A hot topic of discussion at Life Chiropractic Centre, for Dr Matthew Watkinson and myself (aside from the obvious!), is working from home and setting up a home workstation.

Many patients this week have had problems with neck, upper back and shoulder pain from working at home and poor setups.

Here are a few tips that I tell all my patients and practice myself to help prevent tension pain and headaches from working at the computer

1. Mid screen should be at eye level
2. Place laptop on box to raise screen
2. Use an adjustable stool
3. Elbows should just clear desk
4. Sit forward so knees are bent
5. Use a separate keyboard for laptops
6. Check and adjust posture every 15 minutes
7. Stand up and stretch every 30 minutes
8. Take a 5 minute break every hour

The brain is considered to use the most oxygen, around 20%, so raising your heart rate and respiratory rate every hour will help with concentration and alertness allowing you to complete tasks quicker.

At Life Chiropractic Centre we remain committed to helping all our patients and friends during this difficult time.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have in this matter or other related health issues.

Our brains are extremely complex and powerful! Most people have never heard of the term “brain imbalance” and yet it is the root cause of so much suffering. The most common brain ” imbalance” occurs between the two hemispheres of the brain; the scientific name is a functional disconnection. Essentially it is a lack of connection, communication and integration between networks on either side of the brain.

This lack of integration is most commonly a result of a developmental imbalance or developmental asynchrony. This means that one side of the brain is delayed or slowed in its development which causes the other to mature and grow faster. This imbalance in growth and maturity prevents the two sides of the brain from properly integrating.

This results in an unevenness of functional abilities where one side of the brain is advanced or even ” too strong” relative to the other side which has skills and functions that are underdeveloped and weaker. Obsessive, compulsive or hyperactive behavior is an example of the left hemisphere being too strong and producing symptoms.
