Queensland ☀️ does Christmas differently – think beach days, pool hangs and long lunches. But our UV index is also high for most of the day in summer, which means UV damage can happen in as little as 10–15 minutes, even when you don’t burn and even when it’s cloudy.

A few sunscreen basics for the festive season:

🌞 Choose an SPF50 or 50+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen

🌞 Apply it to clean, dry skin at least 20 minutes before going outside

🌞 Use more than you think – around 1 teaspoon for the face/neck and 7 teaspoons for the whole body

🌞 Reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying

And sunscreen is just one part of the picture. In Queensland, we follow the five SunSmart steps:
Slip on protective clothing, Slop on sunscreen, Slap on a broad-brimmed hat, Seek shade and Slide on sunglasses.
