Eid Mubarak to all Muslim brothers and sisters 🤍
Eid felt tender this year… holding both joy and grief - the absence of loved ones, distance from home, and the collective grief for lives lost in a world where harm is too often done “in the name of God.”
This morning at prayers, I was surrounded by a beautiful tapestry of our community 🌈 abayas, salwars, lenghas, thobes, dishdashas, baju kurung… generations together, children handing out sweets, quiet devotion held with warmth and care.
A reminder, in both faith and my work as a therapist, that even in divided times we are called back to love, kindness, and responsibility; and that living our values here in Australia is its own quiet form of strength.
At home, I honoured tradition: kheer semiyyan (my late mum’s dish) and maamoul, something my late father introduced to me, that my husband and I made together (no pics cuz they look like mutant cookies!). Funny how food threads culture, memory, and belonging across distance.
Tradition, this year, feels like continuity 🤍
And in that spirit, I ask forgiveness from those I may have hurt, knowingly or unknowingly.
What I witnessed today, and always, are community, care, beauty, and deep humanity.
