Introducing my new therapy room at new space in Ashgrove.

Isn't she lovely.

I am moving across from Paddington to Ashgrove from 8th June and shifting my days to Tuesdays (school hours) and Wednesdays (late).

Do you ever wonder why you are such a b$tch to your partner?

I mean sure, they can be thoughtless and do stupid sh$t at times, but man, we can really be be disproportionately mean spirited πŸ‘Ήβ˜ οΈπŸ˜ˆπŸ€¬ to this person who we supposedly love more than any other.

He's actually a really great guy!!!

And ironically, we are so kind and sweet to everyone else. We would never dare be half as mean 🫠

So what the frick is going on?

When I ask other women why, (and this seems to be a female phenomena), they tell me all the reasons such as hormones, knowing they will always stick around, and just being sick of them.

Which are totally valid reasons...

But...

There are deeper reasons too... Like attachment stuff, systemic (hello patriarchy πŸ‘‹) stuff and relational pattern stuff that is beneath it all.

I believe that the more we are aware of what is going on inside us, the more we are able to shift things for the better.

Our aim, in exploring this is to lift and empower ourselves to feel great about who we are in relationship. When you lift and feel great about who you are in relationship, you feel good and your relationship inevitably changes for the better.

I wasn't quite at burnout but had a few flags such as I...

-felt like choosing work was easier above all else
-felt like I was doing the nice thing but not feeling the nice feelings
-did not feel truly present apart from (ironically) at work

So I have made 2 radical changes..

1. tweaked my work schedule to be more Nicole friendly
2. carved out Friday Fun day

Today, my friends and I went for a hike, lunch, and then a waterfall swim. Bliss.

My whole system feels more relaxed, and everything feels less overwhelming. It is crazy how a small tweak here and there can change everything.

Last night I went to a The The concert with the hubs.

A decade or so prior, when he had played me their music, I had said to him "Please don't ever play that music around me!"

In other words, my rock, trip-hop, grunge ears were just not ready for this new wave, post punk sound.

The sound was so new and different that it made me feel uncomfortable in my body.

Over the years, on hearing the songs more often (because he played his musicπŸ˜‰).... I softened.

What was the point in being so anti this music? No point, apart from protecting my precious ears from discomfort.

What could be gained from being open?
Connection.

And last night was amazing. I am perhaps not the The's biggest fan, but I am definitely their newest appreciator.

This is obviously such a small thing, but I remember how stubborn I felt when I told him never to play their music again. We can really get stuck and stubborn on things that really don't matter, can't we?

Just a reminder for all of us in long term relationships. Open and curious wins the day.

And as the The famously say "This is the day, your life will surely change"

I just found this photo that my friend sent me. My fambam captured at the Vatican. Me and my hubby arma around each other.

It arrived slap bang in a really grateful patch.

I am grateful to my husband for being here on this ride with me by my side. There is something about the length of time that slaps me in the heart!

Honestly, we are just getting to really know how to be truly safe for each other. So many years of presuming and misinterpreting each others protective parts are being laid to rest with so much compassion.

So much gratitude πŸ™

My young self didn't think she was attractive. (This is me dressed as Cindy Lauper for my 21st)

I look back on photos, knowing her beliefs about herself and am dumbfounded. How is that possible?

But I know it is possible because of the conditioning, brainwashing and bombardment of messaging that profited from me (and you) thinking this way.

These beliefs affected the way I showed up, my self worth, my relationships(!!!!), how I interacted sexually (and who with..leaving lots of nervous system stuff to unravel and heal)....everything.

The effects were HUGE.

And it was based on nothing true. It was based on body dysmorphia. It was lies and manipulation and anyway, it was based on something that wasn't even that important (really, I mean really!!) for me living a feel good life.

Go and look back on photos of your younger self, and notice the bu****it = notice the body dysmorphia.

If you had wrong ideas about your beauty and body then, you probably also have wrong ideas about your body now.

You are enough. Your beauty is enough. Your body is enough.
