There are a few things trichologist see on repeat and sometimes they scare us 😱 Not because they’re rare but because they’re avoidable.

1. Hair growth shampoos -
They don’t pe*****te deep enough into the to follicle. At best, they support the scalp. At worst, they give false hope when the real issue progresses.

2. Hair loss medications without a diagnosis -
Medications have a place. But without understanding the *why* behind your hair loss, you’re guessing. And guessing may cost you time, your health, and long-term results.

3. “My doctor said my levels are fine” -
This is fine for general health, however not optimal for hair loss and hair regrowth. hair is a non-essential tissue. It is the first to miss out when your body is running low.

4. High-dose biotin -
More is not better. Excess Bioton can interfere with blood test results, imbalance levels, interact with certain medications and cause other issues.

5. Nutrient robbers -
This is a common one many people miss. Certain foods or even combinations of foods we love to eat can cause havoc. Resulting in blocked absorption or depletion of specific nutrients we require for hair growth.

If you’re doing all the “right things”, but your hair still isn’t responding, this is where we look 👆 Our Food for Ferritin guide breaks down exactly how to support iron levels through food, and what might be getting in the way because hair growth starts long before the scalp.

This client didn’t think anything was wrong, in fact it was her hairdresser who noticed it first.

During consultation we uncovered years of starting and stopping birth control, two pregnancies close together, nutritional gaps that quietly build up over time. Her hair cycle has been pushed out of rhythm, stuck between growing, resting, and shedding. What looked like breakage was actually hair that never had the chance to properly.

The good news is with the right support, the right routine, and plan tailored to her, her hair started to come back together. Thicker, stronger, growing the way it should.

Ten months on, the change speaks for itself and there’s still more to come.

If this sounds like your story, it might be time to check in with your hair and start your journey back to healthy hair growth.

Your natural hair, but less chaotic. That’s the goal.

eSmooth works from the inside out, healing and controlling those not so cute things our hair does. Say bye to frizzy, coarse, unmanageable locks.

Our favourite part? It’s not going to compromise your hair or your health with safe ingredients, just smoother, healthier hair without spending all day in salon.

Winter skin doesn’t stop at your face your scalp feels it too.

Colder weather, dry air, and hot showers can strip away natural oils, leaving your scalp tight, flaky, itchy, or irritated. What most people think is “just dandruff” is often something more and guessing the wrong treatment can keep you stuck in the cycle.

That’s where we do things differently. We don’t assume. We assess.

Using detailed scalp analysis, we look beneath the surface to understand exactly what’s going on oil levels, buildup, sensitivity, and follicle health. From there, we prescribe a tailored plan that actually treats the cause, on top of relieving the symptoms.

And when your scalp needs extra support, our in house treatments are designed to deeply cleanse, rebalance, and restore giving your scalp the reset it’s been asking for.

If your scalp has been dry, flaky, or irritated for more than 3 months, it’s time to stop guessing.

Dandruff doesn’t necessarily mean you have a dry scalp, and it’s easy to get confused about what your scalp actually needs.

If it’s been going on for more than 3 months, it’s time to stop guessing and get answers.

Book a free phone chat with us and discover how a microscopic scalp analysis can pinpoint exactly what’s happening beneath the surface so you can treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

Hair loss isn’t just a hair problem.

When you start noticing more hair in the shower, thinning through the part line, or a scalp that will not stop itching, flaking or feeling irritated, it is often a sign that something deeper is happening within the hair growth cycle or the scalp environment.

That’s where we come in.

A trichologist is a specialist in the science of the hair and scalp. Through microscopic scalp analysis, detailed hair assessment and an understanding of the hair growth cycle, we can investigate the underlying factors contributing to hair loss, hair thinning and ongoing scalp conditions.

Because in many cases, the hair is simply reflecting what is happening beneath the surface.

Changes in the scalp environment, disruptions to the hair growth cycle, inflammation around the follicle and nutritional or lifestyle factors can all influence how healthy your hair grows and how long it stays in the growth phase.

When these factors are identified early, the right support and treatment plan can make a significant difference to the future of your hair.

Vitamin D might be known as the sunshine vitamin, but its role goes far beyond bone health. It plays an important part in regulating skin cells, supporting the immune system, and helping the hair follicle function properly.

Your body produces vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Smaller amounts can also come from foods like oily fish, egg yolks, and fortified products. Once in the body, vitamin D acts more like a hormone, influencing many processes including the health of your scalp.

When vitamin D levels are low, the scalp can struggle to maintain a balanced environment. This may show up as dryness, flaking, irritation, increased sensitivity, or even stubborn dandruff that just will not settle. Vitamin D helps regulate the life cycle of skin cells and supports the immune activity that keeps the scalp calm and functioning as it should.

But here is the important part. Not every dry or flaky scalp is caused by vitamin D deficiency. Many scalp conditions can look very similar on the surface while having completely different underlying causes.

This is where the right microscopic diagnosis matters.

Our trichologist uses microscopic assessment to examine the scalp closely and identify what is actually happening at skin level. If symptoms like dryness, flaking, itching, or irritation have been hanging around for more than three months, it is a sign that the scalp needs more than guesswork.

Understanding the root cause allows us to create targeted treatment plans that support both scalp health and healthy hair growth.

Summer’s just around the corner, and while we’re all ready for salty swims and sunshine, our scalps might need a little extra love.

👒 Just like your skin, your scalp can dry out, flake and become irritated after too much sun, salt or chlorine. A wide-brim hat and safe scalp SPF are your best beach companions to protect those precious follicles from UV stress.

🧼 After your dip in the ocean or pool, a gentle cleanse makes all the difference. Removing salt, sand and chlorine helps maintain a balanced scalp environment and keeps your hair soft instead of straw-like. Choose scalp-safe cleansers and prescriptive shampoos designed to protect your natural oils rather than strip them away.

💦 Hydration is the final piece of the summer hair puzzle. Drink plenty of water and use a light scalp moisturiser to maintain hydration from both the inside and out. Skip the heavy styling products that sit on the scalp and clog follicles, your hair will thank you with bounce and shine.

If you’re ready to get your scalp in shape for summer, book a free phone consult with our Trichologist, Carolyn to assist you in creating a tailored plan so your hair can stay strong, healthy and ready for those mermaid waves all season long. 🧜‍♀️

Your scalp is where healthy hair begins. When it’s balanced and cared for, everything else follows. Swipe to take a look at the difference between a clean scalp vs. a congested scalp.

A healthy scalp supports:
• Stronger, thicker hair growth
• Reduced irritation and inflammation
• Better absorption of treatments
• Balanced oil production

Your scalp is living tissue, made up of thousands of follicles that each play a vital role in your hair’s strength and growth. When those follicles become congested or inflamed, it can slow down growth and weaken new strands before they even reach the surface. By improving scalp circulation, removing build-up, and restoring balance, you create the ideal environment for hair to thrive.

If your hair feels dull, weak, or slow to grow, your scalp may be trying to tell you something. It’s not just about products or shampoos, it’s about the foundation they work on.

Healthy hair starts at the scalp, and we can show you how.

Book your free consultation with Trichologist Carolyn today and take the first step toward restoring your scalp and hair health.
