Termites causing electrical damage?

It’s not common, but it does happen. In fact, it happened to one of our clients who called us after termites chewed straight through a power line.

Termites don’t eat copper, but they will chew through insulation to access moisture, warmth, or to extend their mud tunnels. Unfortunately, that can expose live wiring, increasing the risk of power outages, short circuits, and even electrical fires.

This is why termite damage isn’t always just about timber. If termites go undetected, the damage can spread into walls, ceilings, and critical services you can’t see.

Regular termite inspections help catch activity early, before it becomes a safety issue. If you’ve noticed mud leads, soft timber, or unexplained electrical problems, it’s worth getting things checked sooner rather than later.
