Event Coordinated by HUMANS OF GESTALT

Micro Changes and Self-Care BMSยฉ through Art.

https://www.arttherapygestalt.com/events-1/micro-changes-and-self-care-bms-c-gestalt-art-therapy

In the demanding field of mental health and psychotherapy, self-care is often overlooked or deprioritised.

The Power of Micro Changes in Self-Care: Integrating Body, Mind, and Spirit through Gestalt Art Therapy invites professionals to reflect on the transformative impact of small, intentional actions.

Grounded in Gestalt Therapy principles, this session emphasises awareness, responsibility, and the integration of experience as the foundation of holistic well-being. Through the framework of Gestalt Art Therapy, participants will explore how micro changes-minor yet meaningful shifts in daily activities- can significantly enhance self-support and professional resilience.

The Body-Mind-Spirit (BMSยฉ) model will guide this exploration, encouraging participants to consider the interconnectedness of:

โ€ข Body โ€“ physical movement, nourishment, and breath awareness

โ€ข Mind โ€“ thought awareness, emotional regulation, and mindful attention

โ€ข Spirit โ€“ creative expression, meaning-making, and connection to something greater

This integrative approach empowers therapists to develop personalised self-care routines that honour their unique rhythms, limitations, and environments.

Participants will engage in experiential and reflective activities grounded in Gestalt methods, enhancing their awareness of current needs, patterns of resistance, and habitual avoidances.

By focusing on the here and now, small shifts become sustainable practices that nurture presence and vitality. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped to integrate micro changes that support their ability to be present-with themselves and others-ultimately strengthening the therapeutic presence and preventing burnout.

โ–บLearning Objectives-Participants will be able to:

Identify and implement at least three micro changes related to physical movement, breathwork, or nutrition to support bodily awareness and regulation.

Create a personalised self-care plan incorporating at least two strategies (e.g. mindfulness, awareness practices) and two spiritual or creative practices (e.g. meditation, time in nature).

Complete a reflective journal or self-assessment documenting the impact of their micro changes on well-being and therapeutic presence, demonstrating increased self-awareness and Gestalt-informed self-care.

MANDALAS Gestalt Art Therapy
Recorded workshop

Workshop objectives:
Creating mandalas can indeed have therapeutic benefits and promote relaxation and well-being. Mandalas are intricate and symmetrical patterns that often originate from spiritual and cultural practices, particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism. In recent years, they have been adopted in various therapeutic settings due to their potential psychological benefits.

Investigation and experimentation with the creation of mandalas within the Gestalt Art Therapy process.

Practical, hands-on experience using mandalas as a therapeutic tool.

Integration of polarities through mandala work.

Exploration of symbols, archetypes, and the collective unconscious.

Presentation of relevant Gestalt and Jungian theories in a practical framework.

Focus on the "here and now" experience in the therapeutic process.

Emphasis on experiential learning over theoretical discussion.

Takeaways for Participants:
Develop the ability to use mandalas as a self-exploration tool, gaining insight into oneโ€™s unconscious self (inspired by Susanne F. Fincher).

Learn how to introduce and facilitate mandala work in counselling sessions.

Understand how mandala creation can support clients in expressing their inner world in a safe, symbolic, and non-verbal way.

Experience the spiritual and transformative potential of mandala art.

Gain a deeper understanding of working with mandalas from a Gestalt perspective, focusing on the "what for" and the "how," rather than just the "why."

Learn to apply Gestalt principles to support client awareness through the creative process.

Enhance your capacity to use art as a means of facilitating emotional and psychological integration with clients.

No previous experience with mandalas in Gestalt Therapy, Psychology, Therapy, or Art is necessary.

"My wooden friend"

Roots lying on soil
as it was no purpose
in going inside,
no purpose in digging.

You are all filled with warm light
with energy of combining, merging.
Your bark is made of my incestors' palms.
And here comes your speechless whispering:
"Come closer my baby".

So I come with a gift to you - my wooden friend.
I brought thousands of drops in my hands.
Thousands drops of my tears telling the story of my life.
With each falling tear a new leaf appears.

Grow. Touch the sky my wooden friend.
But wait. Where is the sky?
I don't know.
My piece of a paper has just finished.
