During this short break, I’ve been studying orthopaedic tests to better understand the body and tailor treatments more effectively, so we can achieve result we wants.

Petition is open for signature - Recognise remedial massage therapists as providers of NDIS supports

Petition Reason

Remedial massage, a proven support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), remains unfunded when provided by qualified remedial massage therapists. Currently, only AHPRA-registered practitioners are permitted to deliver remedial massage through the scheme, despite the fact that remedial massage therapists hold nationally-recognised diploma qualifications in their field. Remedial massage therapists already have an established health care identity. They are recognised as health care practitioners by the Department of Health and Aged Care, and by private health insurance companies. They are also already recognised as allied health care practitioners for the purposes of providing services through the Home Care Package program. Qualified remedial massage therapists are specifically trained to assess, plan and treat, providing safe and effective outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Given that remedial massage is recognised as an evidence-based support within the NDIS, it stands to reason that the professionals with the most relevant training and expertise should be allowed to deliver it. Expanding NDIS coverage to include qualified remedial massage therapists would enhance participant choice, access, and the quality of care.
