We’re pleased to share that Dr Jou Wei is now available at Kooky Clinic.

Dr Jou is a specialist general paediatrician who brings a warm, family-centred approach to children's healthcare. A Brisbane native and University of Queensland graduate, Dr Jou completed paediatric specialist training across multiple Australian states, gaining diverse experience in caring for children from newborns through to teenagers. He has trained in a variety of settings, from tertiary hospitals to remote communities, neonatal intensive care units, and community developmental clinics.

What sets Dr Jou apart is his commitment to truly understanding each child and family he works with. Rather than focusing solely on medical symptoms, he takes time to learn about his patients' unique circumstances, cultural backgrounds, and goals—creating care plans that are more than just the diagnosis.

Dr Jou is particularly passionate about supporting families from multicultural and First Nations communities. He understands that effective healthcare requires cultural sensitivity, clear communication, and genuine partnership with families.

Dr Jou has special interests in developmental paediatrics, including assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and autism, as well as newborn and infant care. Whether you're seeking support for your baby's early development or navigating concerns about your teenager's wellbeing, Dr Jou provides expert, compassionate care at every stage of childhood.

We’re pleased to share that Heather McAuliffe is now available for assessments at Kooky Clinic.

Heather offers neuroaffirming assessment services for children, young people, and families, providing experiences that feel warm, safe, and collaborative. She works closely with paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and allied health professionals to support a holistic understanding and meaningful recommendations.

Her assessment approach is individualised and accessible, taking into account developmental stage, communication preferences, sensory needs, culture, identity, and community context. While standardised tools may be used where required, Heather adapts language, pacing, and supports to ensure comfort and understanding throughout the process.

Heather provides comprehensive assessments guided by best-practice frameworks including CRC and AADPA, with initial appointments exploring developmental, medical, and allied health history, current concerns, and goals. Families are supported every step of the way, and support people are always welcome.

With extensive training, ongoing professional development, and memberships including LOAPAC and AADPA, Heather brings a strong focus on neuroaffirming practice, education, and advocacy.

Dr Mel is GPwSI in ADHD and has over 10 years of personal and professional experience helping neurodiverse families live their best lives. In addition to her work with neurodiverse families Dr Mel also has a special interest in managing complex antenatal patients and enjoys all aspects of women’s health and paediatrics. She also has many years managing complex medical patients and enjoys working with her patients to better their lives and health.

Fun fact before joining the medical profession Dr Mel was a registered vet nurse. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, horseriding , tennis, building Lego and baking and wishes she had more time to read fantasy books (and that a magic house fairy would do the housework).

We help neurodiverse families feel supported, seen, and celebrated.

**New PAEDIATRIC patient appointments available!**

Hello everyone,

It seems we have been overly cautious with opening up my private practice books due to the big influx when I first started, so much so (together with a few clinic location changes this year and opening up an extra day in the last couple of months) that I have new appointments available as soon as next month!!!

Books online have been now just opened up until June 2026 for kids aged 0-16 years that need a paediatrician!! And please feel free to tell your friends and colleagues ❤️

I am now at the Kooky Kids Clinic at Springwood (Brisbane, Queensland) on Tuesdays and Fridays (Dr Megan Yap: General as well as developmental and behavioural paediatrician )

Simone is a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to supporting children, families, and adults through clear and comprehensive assessments.

She has experience across education, clinical, hospital and diagnostic assessment settings and has just joined the Kooky Clinic and Hype Clinic teams.

She has immediate availability for a range of cognitive, learning, and diagnostic assessments, such as those for ADHD, autism, learning disorders, intellectual impairment, and giftedness.

Simone has a strong interest in neurodiversity and is able to conduct comprehensive assessments for individuals with complex or co-occurring conditions that may not fit typical diagnostic profiles.

Dr Shannon just received her first ever text from Noodle with this pic of her in ICU after her successful heart surgery yesterday... Hi mum, I had a good night. The nurses gave me a little jacket to keep warm on my walks outside. I am eating chicken really well. My doctors will contact you today with my plan after they have assessed me. Lots of love Noodle 💕🐾. The Kooky Team are so grateful to the Team at Underwood Veterinary Specialist Services for their excellent care of our precious Noodle. Noodle will be back on the job Monday July 8th with her new and improved heart, ready for more stinky kisses and cuddles!
