Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work - a reminder that a safe workplace is not just about physical safety, but psychological safety too.

Psychosocial health in the workplace is just as critical as preventing physical harm. Factors such as workload pressures, role clarity, workplace relationships, and organisational culture all play a significant role in an individual’s mental wellbeing.

Creating a mentally healthy workplace means:
• Encouraging open, respectful communication
• Supporting work-life balance
• Identifying and managing psychosocial risks
• Promoting early access to mental health support

When people feel safe, supported, and valued at work, they are more engaged, productive, and resilient.

Let’s continue to prioritise environments where individuals can thrive - both physically and psychologically.

Had a big weekend and finding it hard to reset for the week ahead?

For some people, this feeling goes beyond a “slow start” - and may reflect an underlying pattern where mental health and substance use are impacting each other.

We’re pleased to announce our Dual Diagnosis Program at Nundah Private Hospital, commencing 5th May, with admissions now open.

This evidence-based inpatient program is designed for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. It provides structured, integrated care delivered by an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Our approach focuses on:
• Stabilisation in a safe, supportive inpatient environment
• Integrated treatment for mental health and substance use
• Individualised care planning and therapeutic support
• Skills development for long-term recovery and relapse prevention
• Coordinated discharge planning and follow-up care

At Nundah Private, we understand recovery is not one-dimensional — and treatment works best when both mental health and substance use are addressed together.

If you would like more information or to make a referral, please reach out to our team on 1800 231 444.

Today, we pause to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served our country.

On ANZAC Day, we reflect not only on the bravery shown in conflict, but also on the lasting impact that service can have on mental health. Many veterans and their families carry unseen wounds, and it’s important we acknowledge their experiences with understanding, respect, and ongoing support.

At Nundah Private, we recognise the strength it takes to seek help and the importance of compassionate mental health care. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our community, including those who have served.

We remember their sacrifice, honour their stories, and stand alongside them in care and connection.

Lest we forget.

🧠💬 What is Dual Diagnosis?

At Nundah Private Hospital, we understand that mental health can be complex.

Dual diagnosis refers to when someone experiences both a mental health condition (like anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder) and a substance use issue (such as alcohol or drug dependence) at the same time.

These conditions often interact with each other, which can make diagnosis and treatment more challenging - but also more important to address together, not separately.

✨ The good news: with the right support, recovery is absolutely possible. Integrated care that treats both conditions at once can lead to better outcomes and long-term wellbeing.

If you or someone you care about might be experiencing dual diagnosis, reaching out is a strong and positive first step. Our team is here to help with compassionate, evidence-based care.

OUR NEXT PROGRAM STARTS TUESDAY 5TH MAY.

Queensland Youth Week is a major, state-wide celebration for young people aged 12–25, featuring a strong focus on mental health, community connection, and empowerment.

Youth Health Week is a powerful reminder that supporting young people goes beyond physical wellbeing - mental health matters just as much. Mental health is the top concern for young people (56.6% of respondents in recent surveys), followed by cost-of-living and housing pressures.

At Nundah Private Hospital, we recognise that adolescence and early adulthood can be a challenging time. From academic pressures and social expectations to navigating identity and future pathways, many young people experience stress, anxiety, and emotional struggles that aren’t always visible.

This Youth Health Week, we encourage open conversations around mental health. Checking in with young people, listening without judgement, and creating safe spaces can make a real difference. Early support can help build resilience, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

When should you seek help for your mental health?

It’s not always easy to know when to reach out - but there are some signs that extra support could really help.

It might be time to speak to someone if:

* Your symptoms have lasted more than a few weeks
* Your daily life, work, or relationships are being affected
* You’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself
* Things that used to feel manageable are starting to feel difficult

These experiences can be linked to conditions like Depression or anxiety - and you don’t have to wait until things feel severe to get support.

Early help can make a real difference. With the right care, many people start to feel better sooner and regain a sense of control and balance.

At Nundah Private Hospital, our team offers a range of supportive, evidence-based programs tailored to your needs in a safe and understanding environment.

If this sounds like you, we encourage you to take that first step - reach out and speak with our team today, or chat with your GP about a referral.

You don’t have to do this alone. Our team are here on 1800 231 444
