I thought I understood menopause.

Starting GLO with Keri, I knew the facts. I knew what might come. But living it? That’s something else entirely.

The random symptoms, the anxiety, the hormonal mood swings— nothing prepares you for how it messes with your mind.

It’s not just forgetting a word. It’s questioning your confidence, your clarity — wondering if you were ever capable at all.

It didn’t break me, but it’s tested me. Hard.

I wrote about it — raw and real. If you’re in it too, I hope it helps you feel seen.

Nic.

I co-founded GLO almost two years ago with Keri, partly out of empathy, because she was deep in the thick of perimenopause, and partly out of curiosity and self-education, knowing I wasn’t far behind. But let me tell you this, I had no bloody idea what it actually feels like.I’m going to try my ...

Chapter 2. Removing toxic people. This is probably the most sensitive topic of the 5 guiding principles. In some cases it can be as simple as avoiding people when your emotions are at their eratic peak, or as complex as navigating you way out of the paralysis and fear caused by coercive control. There is always help available to get you through these times, this journal helps to identify what mix of relationships you have in your life right now.

In retrospect, I acknowledge that I wasted valuable time trying to make sense of my mental, physical, and emotional well-being, without realising that the specialists I consulted, at significant cost, were limited by the symptoms I recalled, which, due to brain fog, were fragmented. This insight drives my passion, shared with Nic, to guide others through comparable experiences. I urge you to document your journey and thrive during this time.

Good morning to all of our new followers today and welcome to the GLO network!

If you’re not sure who we are we are an organisation dedicated to supporting women over 40 (and those transitioning into this phase of life) through the ups and downs of menopause, health, and well-being.

We posted yesterday about our new initiative Be Your Own Project a tool for the woman navigating hormones, shifting identities, and the wild ride of life over 40 (or any age really) to to reflect, laugh, cry, and regroup.

Yesterday we wrote a little about Chapter 1: Find your baseline. Today is a sneak peak at Remove Toxic People. It seems a bit weird to have this in a menopause journal doesn’t it? That’s because BYOP isn’t a menopause journal, yes it provides critical information on peri / menopause but this is where GLO differs, we want you to prioritise wellbeing holistically.

Why is removing toxic people important?

✔️Firstly your energy is important as your body goes through these changes. Toxic people are a drain and you can’t prioritise yourself when they are leaving you exhausted and second guessing yourself.
✔️With negative energy out of you life you have the opportunity to create room for healthier relationships (hold for Chapter 5 on this one!)
✔️ Letting go of toxic people helps you regain control of your environment and your happiness.

Sometimes these relationships are the hardest to let go, so in this chapter we help you identify these and provide information on how to set healthy boundaries.

Hi everyone, happy Easter! I thought since I had some time today I might do a little bit of a deep dive into the Be Your Own Project channel for those who aren’t quite sure what it’s purpose is and how it differs from every other journal out there.

So let’s start with the story behind chapter 1… Find Your Baseline.

I think for Keri and I this chapter was the hardest one to write because in some ways it’s the most important, and we wanted to make sure it set the tone for all the rest of the journal. We also had two different perspectives on what was important so trying to meld them together into one chapter was most definitely a challenge 🤣.

Find a baseline is about how to start your journey and understanding yourself, in both your mind and your body. Because if you don’t understand what matters to you and how your body is changing, you’ll spend your time chasing fixes that don’t fit.

Inside this chapter, you’ll find:
✔️ Space to track your moods, energy, and menopause symptoms
✔️ A place to understand yourself set your intentions and identify what matters most to you.

You’ll also hear from Keri on her experience when she first realised she might be going through peri menopause.

What’s really important to know is this journal isn’t just about peri menopause (though understanding that early is incredibly important) it’s about understanding yourself holistically no matter what stage in life you’re at.
