It’s not every day you show up on the news for making a positive impact.
The past few weeks have been huge - planning, promoting and preparing alongside my colleagues for Family Drug Support QLD's International Family Drug Support Day at Queensland Parliament House.
And this year… we made the news!
Thank you to Channel 10 for sharing a snippet from the day, highlighting one aspect of the event and Robyn’s deeply moving story of loss.
24 February marks 29 years since Tony Trimingham - Founder and Patron of Family Drug Support - lost his son Damien to a he**in overdose.
International Family Drug Support Day was created as a call for advocacy - to change the landscape for families and carers impacted by alcohol and other drug use.
To see the person, not the drug. Because when we truly see the whole person - their dignity and humanity - compassion and understanding can replace stigma.
Thank you Robyn for the courage to share your lived experience to help other families. It was an honour to stand alongside you.
