Sophie Marsh is Australia’s only International Nia Faculty Trainer and most experienced Nia and 5Stages teacher. Sophie makes getting into your body feel easy and enjoyable. She offers Nia

classes in Brisbane and online via Zoom. She is dedicated to inspiring women to feel more joy, presence and vitality. What is Nia? Incorporating elements of dance, martial arts, yoga, and mindfulness, Nia is a holistic practice that increases wellness. It gets every part of your body moving to all kinds of music – naturally, at your own pace and in your own way. Nia is fun! It’s intuitive and inclusive. It’s supportive, encouraging and healing. It’s about being yourself and being part of a diverse community of women who raise each other up. Nia isn’t a rigid set of exercises. It’s not about remembering steps or ‘getting it right’ and it’s not for any one age group. It’s non-judgemental and it’s never boring or a chore. Nia doesn’t ask your body to do anything that doesn’t feel right. Curious about Nia? Come and try it out... Your first week of classes with me is free! LOCATIONS:

Day 2 began with a moving Sorry Day acknowledgment, breakfast with Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman, a brilliant youth panel, round table discussions and Commissioner Fkovic’s last address before he retires next month from the Queensland Mental Health Commission.

Currently 1% of the national budget goes to mental health prevention and yet nearly every expert said the research demands an upstream vs crisis response.

Calling on all levels of government for systemic and economic change and a more inclusive, holistic, community-based approach.

Grateful for Nia, my #1 practice for wellbeing, coping and resilience.

Feeling inspired and energised after a 3-day Family Drug Support weekend conference…

… taking that energy into this morning’s Nia classes 🙆🏻‍♀️and then to the Queensland Mental Health Commission Leading Reform Summit with FDS colleagues Anna and Robyn.

I loved today’s talks focused on “what if we started from wellbeing?” AND “what’s stopping us from being motivated to build such a human centric system?”

This month's Nia newsletter is filled with somatic education about how Aikido informs our Nia practice and can inspire our dance through life.

The dance of harmonious spherical motion is my class focus this week. (We’re dancing the classic Nia routine “Chains”)

"Aikido reminds us not to meet force with force, but to meet it with awareness... In Nia, this becomes a movement practice: to relate rather than resist, to connect rather than control, to harmonise rather than fight."🐚🌊🥋🌀

Thank you Debbie Rosas 🙏💖

This is why I love practising and teaching Nia…

More than exercise, it’s soulful, sensory movement that creates space for emotional release, mindful presence, and a deeper relationship with your body.

It can help you feel stronger, clearer, calmer - and more alive through menopause and beyond.
