Dr. Yanez Peerbaccus is a specialist doctor with a dual qualification in gastroenterology and hepatology, alongside his expertise in internal medicine. Dr. Peerbaccus brings with him two decades of medical experience, highlighting his dedication and proficiency in his fields. Dr. Peerbaccus has further honed his skills by participating in esteemed training programs worldwide, including the Bariatric Endoscopy Masterclass in Strasbourg, France, the Hopkins International Therapeutic Endoscopy Course at Johns Hopkins University, USA, and endoscopy ultrasound training in Montreal, Canada. He also performs endoscopically placed gastric balloon for weight loss, including its patient care package. His dedication to the field shines brightly through his active participation in gastroenterology conferences, where he shares his extensive research and valuable insights. His research interests span a wide range of topics including discomfort management during colonoscopy, achalasia utilising high resolution manometry, reviewing indications for capsule endoscopy, managing obscure bleeding post-capsule endoscopy, microscopic colitis, ERCP procedures during pregnancy, index gastroscopy within ethnic minorities in South Auckland New Zealand, and chronic cough and reflux disease. Notable achievements include winning the Physician Competition Quiz at Mid Central Health in 2012 and receiving recognition for the best paper presentation at the New Zealand Capsule Endoscopy Symposium in 2016.
