Introducing InSight Vet CGM — supporting better outcomes for diabetic pets.

Managing diabetes doesn’t have to be overwhelming for veterinarians or pet owners. InSight Vet CGM is an upcoming continuous glucose monitoring system designed to provide real-time glucose data, supporting safer, more confident diabetic management in dogs and cats.

InSight Vet CGM is designed to help support:

✅ Faster improvement in diabetic control
✅ Clearer insight into glucose patterns and problem areas
✅ Reduced risk of insulin-induced hypoglycaemia
✅ Easier, more manageable care for owners — improving confidence and compliance
✅ Better support for resolution of clinical signs through more accurate monitoring

Unlike human glucose monitors, InSight Vet CGM has been purpose-built for veterinary use, using species-appropriate glucose ranges and software that accounts for differences in size and metabolism. Its flexible, comfortable sensor is designed to minimise the need for repeated blood sampling, reducing stress for pets and simplifying monitoring for owners.

With up to 14 days of continuous monitoring, real-time alerts and detailed reports, InSight Vet CGM is being developed to support confident, day-to-day clinical decision-making.

Meet this months “Pet of the Month” - Rosie Posie the schnoodle! 🐶 A clever girl who has the sweetest personality!

Rosie presented for routine pre-anaesthetic blood work ahead of a scheduled dental procedure earlier this month. As with any patient undergoing general anaesthesia, having timely and reliable baseline data is key to ensuring a smooth and safe procedure.

The nurses and vets performed a number of tests including in-house haematology using our Heska Element HT5 analyser to assess Rosie’s red and white cell parameters and platelet count. For pre-anaesthetic screening, rapid access to a full blood count allows vets to confirm stability, identify any underlying abnormalities, and proceed with confidence without delaying or rescheduling procedures.

Why clinics use our HT5 Haematology Analyser:
📌 True 5-part white cell differential with advanced measurement technology, providing more detailed immune cell information than standard analysers
📌 Rapid in-house turnaround for same-day procedures, supporting efficient anaesthetic workflows
📌 Visual outputs such as scattergrams and histograms, helping our vets and nurses quickly interpret results and assess sample quality
📌 Intelligent flagging and pathology alerts to highlight abnormal populations and prompt slide review when needed
📌 Small sample volume requirement, ideal for small, fractious, or geriatric patients

In Rosie’s case, this meant blood work could be completed efficiently prior to anaesthesia, allowing her dental procedure to proceed as planned. Rosie recovered smoothly and is now back to her happy self showing off her pearly whites 🦷✨

Rosie’s case highlights the value of dependable in-house haematology and why the HT5 from Vepa is a trusted tool in everyday clinical practice.

If you have any questions about our Heska Element HT5 analyser or would like to learn more about how it could support your clinic, feel free to contact us at info@vepalabs.com.au
— as always we’re happy to help ✨

Meet our pet of the month, Mabel 🐱 a spicy tortie with a resting “not amused” face, plenty of attitude, a lot of wisdom, and a very senior soul ❤️

Earlier this month, Mabel was admitted with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a common condition in older cats that requires careful monitoring and timely clinical decision-making.

On admission, the clinic ran a number of in-house tests, including biochemistry using our Skyla Solution, to establish baseline renal values and support treatment planning. For hospitalized renal patients like Mabel, having fast access to key parameters such as urea, creatinine, phosphorus, ALT, ALP, total protein, albumin, globulin, and electrolytes (Na⁺, K⁺, Cl⁻) allows vets to make confident, same-day decisions.

Why clinics use the Skyla Solution:
📌 Rapid turnaround for time-sensitive cases, with results in approximately 12–15 minutes

📌 Small sample volume — ideal for fractious and geriatric patients

📌 Ability to test up to three samples at once, helping to streamline workflow

📌 Broad biochemistry panels covering renal, hepatic, and metabolic parameters, providing greater diagnostic capability without the need for multiple devices

📌 User-friendly interface with an intuitive colour touchscreen, ideal for visual learners

📌 Keeps decision-making in-house, reducing reliance on external lab turnaround times

📌 Supports software integration for data management, allowing results to be transferred directly into patient files

In Mabel’s case, this meant bloods could be run on admission and repeated after several days of fluid therapy to assess her response and adjust care as needed. This is a great example of why the Skyla Solution from Vepa is such a valuable in-clinic tool — delivering fast, reliable results with minimal sample volume, supporting confident clinical decisions, and keeping high-quality diagnostics exactly where they matter most: in the clinic, with the patient.

If you have any questions about the Skyla Solution or would like to learn more about how it could support your clinic, feel free to contact us at info@vepalabs.com.au - We're always happy to help ✨

✨Meet The Team✨

Hello everyone!
My name is Emily, many of you have probably spoken to me over the phone at some point. I’m Vepa’s Customer Relations Manager. I’ve been part of the Greencross family for over 10 years, starting out at Petbarn, completing placement with Greencross Vets, and eventually finding my way to Vepalabs.

Even though I was born in Queensland in the summer months, I am definitely not built for the heat. I’m much more of a winter person, probably thanks to inheriting my parents’ English skin, which means I never tan and am always covered head-to-toe in sunscreen.

You’ll usually find me with (or hear me talking about) my fur babies or my partner. They’re my little family and my happy place.

✨ Meet The Team✨

Hi everyone, my name is Vivienne and I'm Vepalabs newest recruit. I’m a part-time Support Technician Officer/Sales representative at Vepalabs, and while I’m still new to the role, I bring years of customer care and problem-solving experience from my time as a receptionist and animal attendant at Greencross Vets.

I’m originally from New Zealand and moved to Melbourne in 2015 where I completed my Bachelor degree in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience at La Trobe University in 2021. I eventually decided to make the big move up to Sydney in 2022 where I have learnt to adapt and enjoy the fast paced and busy lifestyle this beautiful city has to offer. When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me at the gym, playing social netball, pet sitting, or unwinding with a good book.

Steph and Erin had an amazing time at the VPS Conference this year! It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about how Vepalabs can better support clinics, as well as to do some real social networking so everyone could finally put a face to the name. They also hosted a trade show display where clinics could get hands-on with some of our units and ask all their burning questions.

And to top it all off, Steph and Erin even took out Best Dressed at the Wild West awards night — yeehaw! 🤠✨
