Tonightโ€™s twilight social rec we went to the Hills Carnivale as part of the Hills Festival in a safe community space.

We saw and patted some reptiles ๐Ÿ๐ŸฆŽ walked around the market stalls, ate some yummy food ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿฆand drank some yummy juice and hot chocolate. โ˜•๏ธWe planted some sunflower seeds to take home at the Green Thumb Farm stall๐ŸŒป

The live music ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽทwas excellent and awesome, especially the saxophone! We enjoyed singing along and dancing (partly to keep warm) ๐Ÿ•บbut mostly for fun!

Our favourite parts of today:

๐Ÿฉต Kane - fireworks and dancing
๐Ÿฉต Bill - the red fireworks
๐Ÿฉต Benjamin - sausage sizzle
๐Ÿฉต Linda - safe community spirit
๐Ÿฉต Jen - getting out on a winterโ€™s night
๐Ÿฉต Lawrence - fireworks and music
๐Ÿฉต Luke - community atmosphere and live music

Today marks the beginning of this year's National Reconciliation Week, which lasts from 27 May to 3 June every year.

The annual theme is All In which calls for us to commit to reconciliation not just for this week but for each and every day. At Stepping Stone, this is a cause that aligns with our values and we endeavour to build and strengthen relationships with local indigenous communities all year round.

Today is National Sorry Day. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ

On this day in 1997, the Bringing Them Home report documented the devasting impact of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, the Stolen Generations.

On National Sorry Day, we at Stepping Stone North, honour the survivors. We stand with those still healing. We acknowledge the intergenerational trauma that continues today.

To mark this day and National Reconciliation Week, members from Stepping Stone North will be attending a ceremony at Kalinga Park on Friday. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒป๐ŸฉตLast week a crew from Stepping Stone North went to Homeless Connect organised by Brisbane City Council. This is such an important event for our communityโ€™s vulnerable people.

We had the opportunity to meet and chat with other organisations in our community and infirm them about the support we can offer people living with mental health concerns.

These organisations included Wesley Mission Queensland, The Salvation Army Queensland, Zig Zag Support Centre, Queensland Council for LGBTI Health - QC, Murri Watch Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation, Northside Connect and ADIS Queensland Health

Happy Motherโ€™s Day!
Today we celebrate and give thanks to the people who have done so much for us.

Weโ€™re also thinking of the Mums who have passed, acknowledging carers who fill the role of Mum, and celebrating the fur Mums too.
