I'm taking a break.

Life outside the birthing world is a little full right now, so after my April course, I’m taking a break from teaching group classes.

If you’ve been thinking about joining a class and you’d like to be the first to know when I return, pop your name on the wait list (link in bio).

I’m still keeping an eye on my emails, so if you have any specific questions, please free to reach out.

I appreciate your patience and can’t wait to work with you soon ✨!

It doesn’t matter how often I say, prep for parenthood like you prep for birth—I always get messages from new mums saying, "I nailed my birth, but this newborn thing is totally overwhelming!"
And I get it—I felt the same way.

Birth felt like something I could plan for, something with a manual (or at least a checklist). But postpartum? It felt like something I had to just figure out.

I WAS WRONG.

Here are a few simple but essential ways to prepare:

1. The Foundations
Rest & Recovery: How will you prioritise as much horizontal time as possible for at least three weeks?
Food Prep: Plan how you’ll feed yourself and your partner—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for three weeks. Meal trains, batch cooking, Dinner Ladies—figure it out now, so future you isn’t running on toast and coffee.
Conversations: Talk with your partner. What could cause stress? How can they best support you?

2. The Village
You may not need everyone, but have their numbers handy just in case:
📌 Lactation consultant
📌 ABA live chat/helpline
📌 Child nurse phone support
📌 Mother’s group
📌 Your inner circle—the people you can call for help (the ones you’re okay with seeing you topless!)

3. The Plan of Attack
Household chores won’t magically disappear. Get clear on who’s doing what.
💡 Outsource where you can! Instead of baby shower gifts, ask for a cleaner, meal delivery service, postpartum doula, or dog walker.

4. The Deal Breakers
Set boundaries before the baby arrives.
Unannounced visitors? Nope.
Unsolicited advice? Not today.

Postpartum is HARD. But you can do hard things—and those things are easier with a plan in place.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start, I can help.

The Positive Postpartum Program, the workbook, or a one one one postpartum planning session...I have been there, I get it, and I am here to help.

✨ What Do Contractions REALLY Feel Like? ✨

If you've never had a contraction before, imagine this:

🔥 Early labor – Mild period cramps, a tightening belly. Manageable, but you know something is happening!

💥 Active labor – Stronger, deeper, and closer together. Like an intense wave that builds, peaks, and fades. You may need to breathe through them now!

⚡ Transition – No chill. It’s fast, intense, and overwhelming. Full-body shakes and so much pressure. It's emotional too...it feelsl like a test and it feels like you aren't going to make it throogh. You might even say, “I can’t do this” - which means, you’re SO close!

🌪️ Pushing – At first feels like you have to do a poo...but then it becomes clear it is not a poo, its your baby! Your body takes over, and it’s go-time!

Labor isn’t just pain—it’s POWER. 💪🔥

How did YOUR contractions feel? Drop your experiences in the comments!

Saying “NO” to something doesn’t make you difficult or a bad person. It’s about owning your voice and going into birth empowered to make the decisions that are best for you —because it’s one of the most important days of your life.

I know saying no can feel uncomfortable (especially if you’re used to saying yes), but here’s the thing, practice helps! This is birth preparation, too. Practice asking for more time, practice having honest conversations, and practice saying no with confidence.

When we say yes to things we don’t want, it often leads to frustration, disappointment, and sometimes even regret. Remember, it’s more than okay to have an opinion and stand by your decision - you’re not being difficult for advocating for yourself!

💬 Do you have a kind but firm way to say no? Share it below, and don’t forget to follow for practical, down-to-earth support through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Taking a birth class can't gurantee any birth outcome. Taking hynobirthing can't protect you from developing preeclampsia or having an unsupportive care provider...but it can prepare you for those situations by giving you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to navigate them.

Hypnobirthing helps you stay calm and make informed decisions, no matter how your birth unfolds. It empowers you to advocate for yourself, communicate your preferences, and feel more in control even in unexpected circumstances.

Birth is unpredictable, but preparation is powerful. While you can’t plan every detail, you can equip yourself with the mindset and skills to handle whatever comes your way.

You deserve to feel supported, informed, and empowered—because a positive birth isn’t about the outcome, it’s about how you feel throughout the journey. 💛

I'm sure you are creating a checklist for everything you need to do before birth...but what about your partner?

It is not enough for partners to just show up on the day!
You need their full support - and I can help them know exactly what support you will need, when you will need it, and how to provide it.
I often get feedback from parents saying that their midwife commented on what a prepared and supportive birth partner they had.

My Birth Partner Pack is the go-to for partners who want to tick all the boxes and be the best birth partner they can be!

Is it time for you to book into the Positive Birth Program?

How are you feeling about birth?

If you answered
uncertain,
overwhelmed,
anxious,
waiting for my care providers to tell me everything I need to know,
informed but wanting to know my individual options,
needing some tools to help me have the birth I want,
wanting my partner to have the same knowledge as I do,
feeling like I know a lot but also not knowing what I don't know,

Then yes...it is time to book into the Positive Birth Program!

Please get in touch if you have any questions!

One thing I really want you to know is that my support starts long before the class begins and continues well beyond the final session.

I truly value creating a space where my clients feel genuinely nurtured and supported - not just through pregnancy, but as they navigate life beyond birth.

And, without wanting to toot my own horn, I think I am really good at this!
I love staying connected...whether it’s a quick text to check in, answering your questions, providing some reassurance, catching up at my monthly book club, and even helping you prepare for baby number two (I love getting emails from past clients who are getting ready to do it all again).

One of my favourite aspects of The Positive Birth Program is that nothing ends when the class ends.
The information, the support, the relationship...it all continues!
It becomes a part of your village.

We know that fear before birth and especially fear during birth has a negative impact on your labour experience.
But what can you do about it?

Burying your head in the sand isn't going to help!
You need to acknowledge and address your fears!

- Explore your birth philosophy. What are your beliefs about birth. Where do they stem from?

- Understand physiological birth. Before you make any big decisions about what you want from your birth, understand how birth works (and what can cause birth to not work).

- Choose a care provider who is supportive of the birth that you want and who makes you feel comfortable and safe. Being afraid to be honest with your care provider or feeling like you can't ask them questions is a major red flag!

- Take an independent antenatal class (hospital courses often instil more fears than they release).

- Learn and utilise tools that will improve your mindset. Banish as many fears as you can. Replace them with positive beliefs. But also know that you don't need to be free of all fears heading into birth. It more about understanding WHAT you are fearful of that ridding yourself of all worries.

- Have techniques for labour that will help keep you feeling calm and relaxed. You want to keep stress and adrenaline out. Good vibes only!

Your care provider is not going to educate you.

That is just not how the system is currently set up.

Your care provider's role is to ensure that you are healthy and that your baby is healthy.

And that is about it!

Yes, they will answer questions you have along the way.
But it won't be comprehensive education.

There is barely enough time in your 15 minute antenatal appointments to fit in the basics...there is certainly not enough time to for nuanced conversations about all of your options and what choices might be best for you as an individual.

But just because the system isn't able to provide education doesn't mean that it isn't important!
Or that you should just shrug your shoulders and accept the status quo!

You and your baby deserve better!

You have the potential to hold so much more power around your birth experience than you realise.
And claiming responsibility for a positive experience starts with educating yourself.

The Positive Birth Program can help you take control of the things you can (and let go of the things you can't control).

And remember, that when you take a course with me, my support doesn't end when the class ends...I am there ready to provide you with resources and reassurance through birth and beyond!
Let's do this!
