With the current heatwave in Brisbane, all of us at The Queensland Institute of Dermatology wanted to share some helpful tips on how to spot a melanoma 🌞

Just a reminder from our Dermatologists to always wear sunscreen and call our friendly reception staff to book a skin check. 😀

We have got some new teaching tools here at QIDERM!

A huge thank you to for the donation of an updated microscope 🔬

This microscope allows for multiple people to view at once - a necessity in a teaching clinic like ours.

This collaboration enabled our doctors to quickly diagnose and treat a patient and presented a perfect teaching opportunity.

Thank you for your support.

Why you should be getting an annual skin check?

Here in Queensland UV is high all year round, making us susceptible to the damage it can cause. Getting an annual skin check by a dermatologist can keep your skin in check and help detect, diagnose and treat any abnormalities.

Seeing a dermatologist is highly recommended, especially if you have a previous history of skin cancer or it runs in your family.

Why bother?

Risk Assessment 👉🏼 Having your skin assessed by a dermatologist can gauge where your skin is currently, and how often you should be getting a skin check.

Early Detection 👉🏼 If there are any abnormalities detected, they can be monitored and treated straight away.

Prevention 👉🏼 Skin cancer is preventable. Don’t let it be too late.

The peace of mind that comes with a skin check is also an important consideration. Alleviating your worry by having a skin check and following slip, slop, slap, seek and slide model is the perfect sun safe combination 🌞
