Dr. Karina Argandona is a dedicated veterinarian with over 20 years of experience, having earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney in 2004. Throughout her career, Dr. Karina has worked with a diverse range of animals, from beloved pets to

majestic wildlife and zoo animals, both in Australia and internationally. Her passion for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) began through her own health journey, where holistic therapies played a key role in her recovery. Inspired by these experiences, Dr. Karina completed a Diploma in TCVM through the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (CIVT), integrating these powerful techniques into her practice. As a mobile veterinary service, we bring comprehensive TCVM treatments directly to your home, offering a relaxed environment for your pet's care. Our services include acupuncture, laser therapy, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, therapeutic ultrasound, and rehabilitation. We treat a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal issues like arthritis and hip dysplasia, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), pain management, neurological disorders, digestive and respiratory conditions, skin problems, geriatric care, and behavioural issues. We primarily operate as a referral service but are also happy to offer preventative health advise, ensuring your pets receive personalised, high-quality care tailored to their specific needs.

BREAKING NEWS -- use caution when feeding your dog fresh food from brands such as The Farmers Dog, JustFoodForDogs and Nom Nom⚠️

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine Urolith Center has discovered a NEW urinary stone and the likely cause🔬
The UMN Urolith Center is the laboratory we use for all bladder stone analysis that are conducted for HAH patients and we recently received notification of this new information.

These new stones are called "calcium tartrate tetrahydrate" (CTT) uroliths according to Dr. Lulich (co-director of UMN Urolith Center). Canine patients get "choline bitartrate" (the main compound in CTT uroliths) from fresh dog food and supplements recommended for dogs that eat homemade food.
The data collected by Dr. Lulich and his team showed a clear link between choline bitartrate found in some of the most popular fresh dog food brands -- including The Farmers Dog, JustFoodForDogs and Nom Nom -- and the newly discovered CTT uroliths.

This discovery was published in April 2025 in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Geriatric Nuclear Sclerosis (Lenticular Sclerosis) 👀👓🤓

This is a very common, age-related change in the eye lens that causes a bluish-grey haze.

Signs to look for:

🐾 Bluish-grey haze in the centre of the pupils: Often appears in both eyes.
🐾Vision appears mostly unaffected: Unlike cataracts, this doesn't usually cause significant vision loss. Your pet can still see through the hazy lens.
🐾May struggle slightly in dim light: While vision is largely preserved, some pets might be a little less confident in very low light.

What an owner can do:
🐾No specific treatment needed: This is a normal aging change and generally doesn't require intervention.
🐾Monitor for changes: Keep an eye out for increased cloudiness or signs of true vision impairment, as this could indicate cataracts or other more serious eye conditions that do require veterinary attention.
🐾Provide consistent environment: Avoid moving furniture if your pet's vision is slightly affected.
🐾Regular vet check-ups: Essential to differentiate it from more serious eye conditions like cataracts or glaucoma, which do require treatment.
