When Your Emotions Feel Big, Let This Be Your Guide ||

Regulating emotions isn’t about doing it perfectly, it’s about returning to yourself, gently.

When overwhelm creeps in, it’s easy to forget the simplest things: a deep breath, a glass of water, a name for what you’re feeling.

This checklist isn’t something you need to add to your to-dos, it’s simply a prompt to come back to your body, your needs, and your sense of safety.

Save this post for when things feel a little too much. Remember, regulation doesn’t mean shutting emotions down, it means learning how to hold them with curiosity and care.

Neutral Body Affirmations ||

Affirmations that aren’t about loving every part of yourself, affirmations about making room for the full experience of being in a body.

Some days, compassion comes easily. Other days, it feels further away.

Remember: Your body is not a project to fix, it’s a part of you to care for, gently.

Save these for the moments when the noise gets loud.

Your Psychologist: “Let’s just sit with that feeling for a moment…” The client: “But what if we didn’t…” ||

As your psychologist we often love a good therapeutic pause. And that urge to deflect or change the subject in response? Totally normal. It’s can feel very uncomfortable for many, overwhelming to face what you have been avoiding and often feels like you are asked to let go of very protective copings that have kept painful things at bay.

But silence in therapy isn’t a trap, it’s an invitation.

It can feel scary at first, but those pauses are where reflection, awareness, and deeper emotions have space to surface. So your next challenge in session might be to lean in to the silence and space, and manage the urge to the bring up our new tea addition or what you ate last night for dinner.

What’s Yours to Hold & What’s Not ||

It’s easy to carry things that were never meant to be ours - other people’s assumptions, their timelines, their opinions. And yet, they can quietly shape how we move through the world.

This is your reminder: Not everything deserves your energy.

What’s worth holding onto are the things that bring you back to yourself - your boundaries, your voice, your care.

Let the rest go.

Save this for the days you need clarity on what’s yours to carry.

Inside GrayMind ~ The Details That Help You Exhale ||

Our clinic artwork isn’t just decoration, it’s part of the experience.

Each piece is chosen with care to support the atmosphere we want you to feel the moment you arrive.

With soft tones, organic forms and thoughtful placement, these quiet details aren’t loud but they create a sense of calm without emptiness.

Because when you’re doing deep internal work, the space around you matters and we know healing doesn’t just happen in the conversation, it’s in the feeling of being somewhere that makes you want to exhale.

Healing Often Begins with Self-Talk ||

The words we say to ourselves, especially in moments of struggle, quietly shape how we heal.

Harsh thoughts can keep us in cycles of shame, pressure, or urgency.

But when we soften those thoughts, even slightly, we create space for something new: compassion, clarity, and movement.

These shifts may not change the situation but they can change how we meet ourselves in it and that, too, is healing.

Save this for the moments your inner voice needs a reset.

Meghan Gray of GrayMind Psychology

GrayMind Psychology is a boutique psychology practice that works with couples, individuals and adolescents to enrich their lives. We are located in Paddington, an inner city suburb of Brisbane, and use the most modern psychology approaches that can create sustained change for you.

From the wait-room to your time in each of our therapy rooms, we have consciously created a uniquely tailored, enriched and nurturing therapy environment. Our detailed space is created to support your sense of comfort, safety, and containment from the moment you step in.

Many people attend therapy with the goal of being happy, finding their attempts to do so on their own have left them feeling stuck. We all struggle with unhelpful thoughts, difficult emotions or unpleasant memories, and often our attempts to get rid of these internal experiences can leave us feeling worse. Here at GrayMind Psychology, we have expert psychologists who can help you change your relationship with your thoughts and feelings.

Helping you to work through those ‘inner tangles’, we are committed to using only evidenced-based techniques to give you actionable steps to create a fulfilling and meaningful life.
