We stand with transgender people in opposing the recent ban on new transgender people under the age of 18 accessing gender affirming care. This ban is fueled by transphobic prejudice and is opposed by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists as well as many other organisations. We know the negative impact this will have on the mental health of young trans people and call for this ban to be ended immediately. If you are able, please sign the petition below to help oppose this ban. If you are feeling this distressed or overwhelmed by this news, know you are not alone and please reach out to one these services for support: Qlife, kidshelpline, lifeline and su***de callback service.

Following our recent post on NDIS and creative arts therapies, we wanted to clarify that although the funding is not cut completely, there is a significant change in access, which means that:
~ Unless people have Art/Music Therapy already listed on their NDIS plan, they will experience a decrease in funding per session by $126.43
~ The original funding will only be allowed on a plan if ‘stated’, which does not usually occur for any therapy. In order for that to happen, a plan review needs to occur, which takes time and is likely not possible to be approved by the February 2025 deadline.
~ New clients are prevented from accessing Art/Music Therapy on their plan except for at the reduced rate, and by a registered NDIS therapist. Getting registered with the NDIS as a therapist is a costly, timely process so is not always possible for individual practitioners who offer art and music therapy.
~ Overall, this change by the NDIS will make it extremely challenging or even impossible for people to access under the new rules. This also has a massive impact on therapists who offer art and music therapy as the new rate is not financially sustainable or viable.

There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.

If you grew up having to look after your parent’s emotions, you may have had to disconnect from your own emotions in order to survive and function in that relationship. As an adult, you may have trouble with knowing what you want, how you feel and asserting boundaries with people in your life.

✨6 Types of Boundaries ✨
~ Physical Boundaries - Who is allowed in your personal space, who can touch you, how close someone can get to you, and what you choose to put into your body (i.e., eat/ drink).
~ Emotional Boundaries - Not taking other people’s emotional burden when you don’t have the capacity. Not engaging in triggering topics. Separating yoourself from your feelings.
~ Communication Boundaries - How someone is allowed to speak to you. What someone can and cannot say to you. How you speak to yourself. How you speak with others.
~ Mental Boundaries - Allowing yourself to have personal thoughts, beliefs and opinions that differ from others. Being okay with others not agreeing with you.
~ Time Boundaries - How much time you choose to spend with others. How others should respect your time (lateness, asking for favours, etc.). How much time you spend on a certain task.
~ Relationship Boundaries - How people can treat us. How the can behave around us, and what they expect from us.

Little Window is a Safe Place for people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and diverse sexual and gender identities and expressions. Our counselling space is a nurturing and sacred haven to look within and work towards wellness.
Little Window is an opening to a Peaceful Place; an introspective journey to the Self. It is also an outward connection from inner vulnerability to someone and somewhere safe and supportive.
It is the small window of tolerance referred to in neuroscience as the state of equilibrium within our nervous system (in the middle of the “fight or flight” and "freeze" response) that we need to be in, to recover and integrate from difficult life experiences, and to thrive. We each have unique windows of tolerance, narrow or wide, depending on our experiences.
Little Window is also about the prefrontal cortex, which plays a vital role in our wellness. It is the integrative structure in our brains that supports resilience: It is responsible for our regulation through attunement, insight, empathy, rationality, intuition, morality, easing fear, regulating the autonomic nervous system, and regulating emotions. The prefrontal cortex is located at the very front of the brain, behind the forehead and between the eyes - it is the 'window' in which we work through and engage with in therapy, that supports resilience and opens powerful opportunities for healing and growth.
Our counselling practice is led by the belief that people possess their own sense of wisdom and self-knowledge that can sometimes go unnoticed. Our therapy team strives to nourish, strengthen, and bring into light each individual’s resilience and ability to create a fulfilled, authentic and empowered life.
We take into consideration your whole experience as a client. From the moment you enter our space, you are warmly greeted by soothing music, aromatherapy, and offered a cup of organic tea by one of our friendly and compassionate team members. We respect the time and energy you give for your therapy and therefore mindfully space out our appointments wherever possible to ensure that you receive the appropriate care and time that is required for your counselling process.
All of our therapy rooms are specifically designed to elicit an atmosphere of comfort and sanctuary to our clients: We have 7 counselling rooms which include a variety of adult therapy rooms, a fully equipped Play Therapy rooms, art therapy spaces, and rooms designed specifically for the comfort of adolescents. It is important to us that people of all ages have access to a variety of enriching environments and modalities for self-expression.
