Isabel is one of our lovely Registered Nurses, bringing many years of RN experience to Sante Medical and Paddington Skin.

Her journey into healthcare began as a medical receptionist, inspiring her to study nursing at USC. Since then, she’s worked across general practice, integrative health, and occupational health—from Noosa to the Brisbane CBD.

Isabel is passionate about patient advocacy and delivering high-quality care, working closely with our doctors to support you and your family.

Outside of the clinic, she loves Pilates, beach days, good food, and a great book 📚

✨ Meet the Team – Dr Bec Ostrenski ✨

Dr Bec is passionate about women’s and children’s health, adolescent health, mental health, and general medicine, with a strong focus on prevention and helping her patients stay well for the long term.

Bec has a special love for caring for families of all shapes and sizes and has been a familiar face in North West Brisbane for many years.

When she’s not in the clinic, life is beautifully busy! Bec is a mum to three energetic kids (including 6-year-old twins!), a very enthusiastic (but self-confessed terrible) new piano player 🎹, and does her best to squeeze in exercise wherever she can.

Fun fact: she has questionable taste in TV and is more than happy watching old reruns on repeat… much to her partner’s dismay 😄

Hi 👋🏼 It’s Dr Jackie here with my top 3 tips to protect your brain health 🧠
1️⃣ Aerobic exercise 150-300 minutes per week. Moderate conversational intensity is fine and helps release a substance called BDNF which is like fertiliser for the brain
2️⃣ Manage your Blood Pressure- lifestyle measures first, but if that’s not adequately working to control your BP, talk to your doctor about adding in medication to help.
3️⃣ Quality sleep - aim to get 7-9 hours per night. Practice good sleep hygiene (eg: avoiding caffeine, no screens before bed, consistent sleep and wake times). Sleep is a time of ‘clean up’ for the brain, helping to avoid beta amyloid accumulation.
There are many other things you can do to help protect your brain health, but these are my top 3. I hope you find them helpful! 😃

This week is Coeliac Awareness Week!

Coeliac Disease is an autoimmune disease that means gluten causes destruction of cells in the small intestine and can result in malabsorption of nutrients including iron.

Not everyone has symptoms that are overt, but could have changes in bowel habit or pain after eating gluten.

It’s important to get tested while still eating gluten so if suspicious please see your doctor ASAP!

Gluten is most often found in wheat containing products like breads and cereals but can be found in sauces and seasonings as well as lollies!

Today is World Sleep Day!

Getting adequate sleep is one of the pillars of good health; however, there are many reasons you might not sleep well.

If you feel you are doing all the right things from a sleep hygiene point of view, such as:
- stopping caffeine at least 8 hours before bedtime (the earlier the better)
- heading to bed at a regular time
- not scrolling right before bed
- stopping caffeine at least 8 hours before bed- time (the earlier the better)
- limiting alcohol consumption
- adequate stress management

But you are still having trouble sleeping, it's worth having a chat with your GP about what else might be going on.

Say hello to Melanie, our Dietitian and Practice Manager!

Mel is passionate about helping patients improve their metabolic health through practical, sustainable nutrition strategies. She works closely with patients to support better health outcomes and enjoys seeing the positive changes that come from simple, achievable lifestyle adjustments.

Behind the scenes, Mel also keeps the clinic running smoothly as our Practice Manager—supporting the team and making sure everything ticks along day to day.

Outside of work, Mel loves eating out, travelling, and keeping up with her two busy daughters, who certainly keep life interesting!
