Pennine Designs Hand crafted sewn, patchwork and embroidered items. My name is Sarah Louise Houghton, I am a Textile Artist and Pennine Designs is my craft business.

I have always loved making things, but sewing and embroidery were my most enduring love. I took up quilting five years ago, by making a huge quilt for my brother and his wife as a wedding present, on an original 1919 treadle Singer sewing Machine. I learned a lot from that! I spent many years trying to forge a career in a 'proper job', but I was desperately unhappy. Following ill health and a long

period of recouperation, I decided to make a huge life change and start my own business. I have never looked back! I love how fulfilled and challenging it is, but by being able to be creative for a living I have found real happiness. I make a range of items you can purchase, but I also undertake custom orders.
