Today is International Nurses Day ❤️
As Nurses, we know how hard it can be to safely assess and care for people even WITH resources around us. Imagine supporting an entire community with no blood pressure machine, no pulse oximeter and limited basic supplies.
That is currently the reality for the Nurses in Fiji - 3.5 hrs from Brisbane! During my time there, what impacted me most wasn’t what they didn’t have; it was the incredible resilience, knowledge, compassion, and commitment of the Nurses, who continued to show up for their communities regardless!
What started as a family holiday genuinely changed us for the better. We have made the most incredible friends, extended our family and my soul certainly belongs to the land and sea of Fiji!
The plan is to head back as soon as I can to share the resources and education we are privileged to have access to, including equipment, hygiene supplies, and health education, so that the villages and clinics can benefit in ways that are meaningful to them.
I'm excited to say that in less than 24hrs we have already collected equipment and small supplies. I'd be grateful for your support in any way, whether that’s donating, sharing, contributing supplies, frequent flyer points, or simply helping this reach more people; every share, like and dollar counts!
Universally, Nurses deserve to feel supported while they care for their communities, and all people deserve access to dignified healthcare.
