The class experience at Inna Essence is one of shared responsibility; as instructors we see the importance of understanding our clients’ life-experience. Our observational skills, active listening, deep connection and maintaining complete presence are non-negotiables. At Inna Essence, we are setting our clients up to experience optimal movement and to awaken awareness within their body through Pilates and Yoga. We teach in a way where there is no separation between us and the physical and emotional class experience. 💗 February Studio Theme Wrap-Up - Essence of Love 💗

As February comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on our beautiful studio theme - Essence of Love.

This month invited us to explore love in all its forms - self-love, community love, and our shared love of movement. It was a gentle reminder that love isn’t just something we celebrate on one day, but something we practise - in how we move, how we breathe, and how we show up for one another.

We absolutely loved sharing our love of yoga at our Intro to Yoga Member Appreciation Event on Valentine’s Day. It was so special to welcome our members and their loved ones into the studio, to move, connect and celebrate together. Moments like these truly reflect what makes our community so meaningful. 💞

We hope that this month allowed you to deepen your connection to your love of movement, to practise compassion toward yourself, and to feel the warmth of our incredible community.

Today we celebrate something truly extraordinary - a heartfelt congratulations to our beautiful Wendy F on attending an outstanding 1,000 classes at Inna Essence! 💗🎉

Wendy joined our studio just over three and a half years ago, and from the very beginning she has been a shining light within our community. Whether she’s warmly welcoming new visitors, chatting and connecting with members, helping with props, or even holding babies so mums can move with ease - Wendy embodies the very spirit of Inna Essence.

This week we’re demonstrating the Lat Press on the Cadillac - a foundational exercise in the STOTT PILATES® repertoire.

Using the roll-down bar, this standing movement focuses on scapular stabilisation, latissimus dorsi engagement and deep core control. The goal? Press the bar down while maintaining a neutral spine and beautifully stable shoulders.

✨ Why Pilates is meant to be slow, intentional, and precise ✨

Pilates isn’t about rushing.
It’s not about momentum.
And it’s definitely not about how fast you can move.

Pilates exercises are designed to be performed mindfully and with control. When you slow down, you remove momentum - and without momentum, you can’t cheat the movement.

Think about an upper body exercise on the Reformer using straps.
You want tension in the straps - if you use momentum instead, the straps will be slack and jangling, and the carriage will be jolting back and forth. You’re aiming for smooth, controlled movement. Intentional muscle engagement. Steady breath.

That smooth control is where the magic happens. ✨

Slowing down:
• Increases time under tension
• Improves muscle activation
• Strengthens deep stabilisers
• Enhances alignment and posture
• Builds true, functional strength

Pilates doesn’t need to be fast to be effective.
It needs to be intentional.

Precision will always beat speed. 💪
