Lately I’ve found myself using this wonderful little culinary herb 🌿 in my herbal medicine mixes a lot. While it’s cognition & memory enhancing actions are impressive, it’s the liver protection properties that have sparked my interest. This research paper demonstrates how Rosemary not only protects liver cells from oxidative damage (such as from pharmaceutical drugs) but also promotes phase II liver detoxification. How many people wouldn’t benefit from an extra bit of liver support & memory enhancement? ✨

May have gotten a little bit too excited about all the reading I want to do after this trimester (& degree) finishes in December 🤓. Can you see any of your faves in this pile?

I haven’t posted in a while.. I’ve been busy with this little guy - Peanut! 🤍 Having a dog again has made our family feel complete but as a naturopath I also love the health benefits of knowing that my boys are growing up in a home that will help diversify their microbiome & strengthen their immune system

10 weeks to go! I can’t believe I’ve reached this point, the final trimester of my studies and student clinic block.
Student clinic has been incredible so far, so wonderful to witness how herbal, nutritional and lifestyle medicine has the power to help so many people.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in the clinic so far, I really appreciate it.
However, if you haven’t made it in yet - there is still time! Get in contact if you need an appointment.

I was listening to a podcast recently by that was recommended to me by a friend. It was talking about how the human brain is wired to notice the negative in our lives more than the positive as a survival mechanism. If we allow it, we will focus on negative outcomes more, giving them more energy and ultimately more power over us. So, this is me deciding to choose something to celebrate. I put so much hard work into my studies last trimester and the result is 2x high distinctions & 1 x distinction, increasing my overall GPA. By deliberately shifting our awareness we can train our minds to shift focus and nurture more positivity in our lives

Lots of talk about this incredible medicine in clinic this week & some fantastic clinical results! I’ve used Bacopa personally in my “study mix” and found it to be very helpful. It’s a key herb for ADHD (kids included) as well as a cognitive support for hormone induced perimenopause brain fog. Such a valuable herb🌿 to have in the dispensary ✨

Perimenopause can feel like a rollercoaster - mood swings, fatigue, anxiety, weight changes, and more. But the truth is every woman’s experience is unique, and so should be her treatment.
As a naturopath, I take a personalised approach to every patient, focusing on your specific symptoms and experience of this time.
Whether your struggling with sleep, energy, mood or cycle changes, naturopathic support can bring your body back into balance so you can start to embrace the empowerment and renewal of this transitional journey ✨ 🌿

After listening to a podcast interview with it prompted me to study this fascinating article on the gut microbiota. We know that the typical western diet is one of the key factors contributing to poor gut health or more specifically loss of microbial diversity and chronic inflammation. Together these issues are driving the epidemic of non-communicable chronic diseases we encounter widely in our community. I loved that this study not only highlighted that fermented foods increase microbial diversity but also significantly reduced markers of inflammation. As a naturopath, this resonates with our principle of “food as medicine” providing people with a natural and safe way to therapeutically improve their health without the use of pharmaceuticals

In my Advanced Herbal Therapeutics lecture last week, spirulina was noted as an excellent source of nutrients for people recovering from cancer treatment. Being such a rich source of vitamins, minerals (especially iron) & protein it’s a great option to help nourish and strengthen the body. I’ve been taking Hawaiian Spirulina to support my general health for the past few months and my energy levels have noticeably lifted. This prompted me to do a little research and I found this fantastic article that explained the vast array of benefits spirulina has to offer:
🌱Anti-cancer
🌱Anti-viral
🌱Anti-inflammatory
🌱Antioxidant
🌱Immunomodulator
🌱Anti-allergic
Such great inspiration to continue with my daily green smoothie!
