Lots of talk about this incredible medicine in clinic this week & some fantastic clinical results! I’ve used Bacopa personally in my “study mix” and found it to be very helpful. It’s a key herb for ADHD (kids included) as well as a cognitive support for hormone induced perimenopause brain fog. Such a valuable herb🌿 to have in the dispensary ✨

After listening to a podcast interview with it prompted me to study this fascinating article on the gut microbiota. We know that the typical western diet is one of the key factors contributing to poor gut health or more specifically loss of microbial diversity and chronic inflammation. Together these issues are driving the epidemic of non-communicable chronic diseases we encounter widely in our community. I loved that this study not only highlighted that fermented foods increase microbial diversity but also significantly reduced markers of inflammation. As a naturopath, this resonates with our principle of “food as medicine” providing people with a natural and safe way to therapeutically improve their health without the use of pharmaceuticals

In my Advanced Herbal Therapeutics lecture last week, spirulina was noted as an excellent source of nutrients for people recovering from cancer treatment. Being such a rich source of vitamins, minerals (especially iron) & protein it’s a great option to help nourish and strengthen the body. I’ve been taking Hawaiian Spirulina to support my general health for the past few months and my energy levels have noticeably lifted.
