Want to check your ankle mobility?🦶The knee-to-wall test is a must-try! This simple yet effective assessment, used by physiotherapists for clients recovering from ankle injuries and surgeries, measures ankle range of motion, joint stiffness, and muscle tightness (especially the soleus muscle). The best part? You can easily do it at home to track your progress! 🏡 Here’s how:

1️⃣ Place a tape measure on the floor in front of a wall, measuring from the wall to your big toe.
2️⃣ Stand facing the wall, with your testing foot next to the tape.
3️⃣ Bend your knee to touch the wall, keeping your heel flat on the ground.
4️⃣ Move your foot back and repeat the test to find the maximum distance you can reach while still touching the wall.
5️⃣ Take note of any limitations‼️ —what’s stopping you from going further? Is it pain in the front or back of the ankle, muscle tightness, or stiffness in the joint? 🤔🤔 Let us know so we can help identify the cause of your mobility issues!

✅ A normal distance typically ranges from 10-15 cm but can vary slightly based on factors like age, flexibility, and specific rehab goals.

Now, give it a try and see how your ankles measure up! If you need help identifying or addressing any limitations, feel free to send us a DM! 💪

Who's ready for the next✨ ✨ !!!

Are you a runner, athlete, or someone dealing with lower limb issues in your ankles, knees, or hips? 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ At our clinic, we use the single-leg midfoot hip lift as one of the tests to assess your movement patterns, any compensatory movements and stability issues.

This isn’t your typical hip bridge!

It’s a lower limb load tolerance test where you lift your hips just slightly off the floor for 30 seconds ⏰⏰ The further your hips rise, the more your lower back may take over. While you focus on lifting, we’ll check for things such as the intent through midfoot, check for hamstring or calf cramping, if your adductors are overengaging and etc 🦵

These observations give us hints on:
1. Potential causes of your symptoms and injuries
2. More hands-on desensitisation work to be on done on different muscles, for example the hamstrings or soleus
3. Directions to prescribe specific exercises to reprogram load distribution through your lower kinetic chain.

Let’s work together to optimize your movement! 💪

📢📢 We're back again with another !

🧘‍♂️ A lot of people attempt to stretch tight hip flexors, but many don’t do it effectively! I often prescribe this exercise for patients experiencing low back or sacroiliac joint discomfort due to an anteriorly tilted pelvis and shortened hip flexors 🦵.

✨ Tip: Before you stretch, engage your glutes and abdominals, and keep your hips tilted backwards.

Limited hip extension range and poor control between lumbar and hip extension can lead to excessive and repetitive lumbar extension during activities like jogging or exercising 🏃‍♂️. Of course, strengthening the opposing muscles is crucial as well! Let’s make sure you’re stretching and strengthening correctly to avoid these problems! 💪🤸‍♂️

Get ready for this week's !!

Know any older adults worried about falls, especially your loved ones? Help them try a quick 30-second Sit-to-Stand test at home! 🏡💪

This simple test checks lower body strength and balance—both essential for daily activities. Being able to sit and stand easily supports independence as we age! For those aged 60-64, they should aim for at least 14 reps (men) or 12 reps (women) in 30 seconds. If they can’t, it could signal weakness in leg muscles and an increased fall risk. Check out the averages for other age groups below! 👇

📊 Average Reps by Age and Gender:

➡️ 60-64: F=12, M=14
➡️ 65-69: F=11, M=12
➡️ 70-74: F=10, M=12
➡️ 75-79: F=10, M=11
➡️ 80-84: F=9, M=10
➡️ 85-89: F=8, M=8
➡️ 90-94: F=4, M=7

📢Exciting News!📢
We’re launching our Senior Rehab Group next week!🎉🎉 Participants receive their own personalized exercise programs and work with our Physiotherapist, Lia, in our clinic gym to build strength, mobility, and reduce fall risks 💪. Perfect for those managing previous injuries, weakness, or balance concerns.

Let’s help our loved ones stay safe and active! ❤️

🌟 Welcome to the first episode of ! 🌟

Let’s kick things off with a simple yet powerful exercise to help you break up all that sitting time while scrolling on your phone! 📱💪

Did you know? Recent research shows that holding an wall sit/squat for just 2 minutes can be one of the most effective ways to reduce your resting blood pressure! 🩺✨

To start, you might need a bit of practice and some adjustments to your knee angle to build up your strength for that 2-minute hold. This exercise is also fantastic for activating your quads, especially during rehab after knee injuries or surgeries—though you won’t need to hold it for the full 2 minutes right away.

Ready to get moving? Let’s make those muscles work! 💥
