Showing up authentically is something we’re all supposed to be working towards. Being more real, speaking our truth. Being kind but being truthful. Not hiding from fear of judgement, ridicule or rejection but instead feeling that fear and embracing the vulnerability that comes with it and doing it anyway.
Social media has proven to be an effective platform for showing our best selves to the world. Getting validation and attention in a life where it may be lacking. Filling a need within us to be seen, validated, understood. But are we really seen? Do we really get understood in the way we yearn to be understood?
We’re seen for the version we choose to present. The shined up version of the acceptable side of our lives. What about being seen for the version we hide from ourselves and from others too? What about doing that a bit more? Showing up as flawed humans, doing our very best every day but not always getting it right…
