I got my PCOS diagnosis over 20 years ago. I’d had a couple of years of not falling pregnant in a previous relationship. But by 32 it was time to get serious. When the fertility specialist told me I would need fertility treatment to get pregnant, I got curious.
I started researching why PCOS happens and the role of blood sugar and insulin resistance in hormone regulation. I learned that insulin resistance, which is incredibly common with PCOS, disrupts ovulation and hormone balance in ways that most women are never told about. And it responds really well to targeted nutrition changes.
I knew that a band aid solution would not be enough for me. And it all fit with the unhealthy way I ate for many of those previous 3 decades, with my stress levels.
Everything started to make sense. I often went months at a time without a period. My hormones were a mess, but they were only the messenger.
So I implemented what I learned. I focused on managing my blood sugar, reducing inflammation, and nourishing my body properly for the first time. I did this for 3-4 months consistently. When we decided to try, I fell pregnant straight away.
That was over 17 years ago. And it is one of the reasons I care so deeply about getting to the root cause of what is going on in your body, rather than just managing symptoms.
Because when you start to heal in one area, it tends to create a ripple effect into others. Hormones. Energy. Mood. Metabolism. It is all connected.
I specialise in helping women understand what their body is actually asking for.
And sometimes, the results go way beyond what anyone expected.
