At Hiya Health, our Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy interventions support neurodivergent kids in developing key areas of growth, including strength, balance, coordination, and self-confidence. Therapy sessions also include sensory regulation through fun and engaging movement. When paired with Occupational Therapy, children develop essential fine motor skills, self-care abilities, and strategies for emotional regulation. Together, these therapies create a supportive pathway for kids to become stronger and more independent. At Hiya Health, we adopt a holistic approach to assist neurodivergent kids, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive at home, school, and in the community.

Protect your bones, one rep at a time! It’s Healthy Bones Action Week, and the message is clear:
Weight-bearing + resistance exercise = stronger bones.

As we age, bone density naturally declines (especially after 50), increasing the risk of fractures and falls. But doing the right kinds of exercise can stimulate bone growth, improve balance and reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures helping you stay active, independent and doing what you love for longer.

Incorporating a mix of these exercises into your daily routine can help make a big difference in keeping your bones strong and your body steady:
💪 Weight-bearing cardio (walking, hiking, dancing)
💪 Resistance training (bodyweight, bands or weights)
💪 Balance work (Tai Chi, yoga, stability drills)
💪 Impact moves (as safe and appropriate e.g. jumping, skipping, marching)

Meet Susan - one of our inspiring clients at Sunnybank Hills! 💪🎨
Susan has been attending sessions with us for the past 2 years to manage her Parkinson’s Disease, which affects her balance, posture, and coordination. In the gym, we focus on strength, balance, and dynamic movement using tools like unsteady surfaces, Blaze Pods, and dual-task activities to reduce falls and keep her moving confidently.

Outside the clinic, Susan is a talented artist and Arts student! You can even see her stunning artwork displayed around the clinic - thank you for sharing your creativity with us, Susan! 💙
