On September 10th I'm walking 9 kilometres, fundraising for Lifeline by taking part in their Out of the Shadows Walk. 9 Australians per day end their life by su***de, which is 9 too many. As a Nurse I have been privileged to help many people find their way out of the shadows but it takes a community approach to reduce deaths behind closed doors when people feel they don't know who to turn to. Lifeline is a crisis support service that can offer that hope. Let's do this together so no one has to struggle alone ❤️

Here's my link if you would like to donate ❤️

Very proud to announce that I'm back fundraising, this time for Lifeline as part of their Out of the Shadows walk for su***de prevention. A few years ago there was awesome community support when I fundraised for Beyond Blue so let's get behind supporting Lifeline, a charity driven by volunteers ❤️

I'm walking in Out of the Shadows for Lifeline to ensure no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

Looking forward to an amazing day of research and education presentations, attending The Annual Women's and Children's Health Update 2025. Continued education is what sets apart health professionals who strive for better outcomes from those you say "this is how it's always been done" .

Funding, or lack thereof is one of the biggest barriers to health equity. As gap payments for services rise, so does division in healthcare accessibility. From a global perspective, many regions of the world put substantially higher funding into reactive healthcare rather than screening and prevention however research shows us that chronic diseases would drastically reduce if affordable and easily accessible health promotion and intervention occured at community level. Furthermore this would be cheaper for tax payers. What services do you think should be more affordable or covered by the government? 🤔 #

Whatever your income, whatever your skill set, there will always be people who earn more than you and people earn less than you. Where possible focus on your needs being met and be content with that. There's a saying that the grass is always greener on the other side but conversely, another saying, saying the grass is greener where you water it. Think about it 🔥

Had the privilege of attending the online webinar "Good grief, this hurts" this morning, covering anticipatory grief of dying children/youth and supporting young persons who have terminal loved ones. Although the information is too vast to cover in a short post, the one thing that stood out to me most was that the age of the child should not prevent us from allowing the dying child from telling us what they need and want for their remaining life. Whether "protected" or not from the reality of death, they know something is not right and should be involved in the process of the family unit coming to terms with this, including the acknowledgement of grief and maintenance of quality of life as long as possible. "Going to the stars" was a beautiful concept to describe death. Additionally, seeing butterflies as a prompt to remember a loved one and place your hand on your heart was another thing I loved about helping children deal with loss. If you can watch the training I thoroughly recommend. Thank you Queensland Health, QuoCCA and invited speakers for sharing your wisdom on this difficult subject.

Life can seem like a juggling act sometimes, and with interest rate rises impacting home owners and renters alike, here's a gentle prompt to set aside some time this week to look over your finances. Whether big or small, short or tall, changes add up. Here's a link to an article on budgeting you might find useful 🙂
