It was an absolute pleasure to be asked by Gidget Foundation to be one of two keynote speakers at the International Day for People with a Disability alongside . Eliza works tirelessly at informing others regarding disability in the community and today we focused on the perinatal period and disability and neurodiversity in the transition to parenthood. We are also grateful to Salesforce for donating the magnificent space for our morning tea.

As a clinician, it is my hope that antenatal and postnatal services build in considerations for those with disability and neurodiversity, as well as for parent-carers who live with and advocate for their children with disabilities/neurodiversities.

Recently Too Peas In A Podcast wrapped up their podcast, which began a few yeas ago as a way to reach out to all Parent-Carers whose children were diagnosed with developmental disabilities. I am fortunate to know these two beautiful ladies both professionally and personally. Nominees for the Australian of the Year award a few years ago, Mandy Hose and Kate Jones provided a much needed support system for parent-carers, which eventually extended out to 'peafessionals' (professionals), siblings, people with disabilities, and interested others.

Thank you for your many years of insights, tears, and laughter Mandy and Kate!! Your podcast will be sorely missed as your laughter was infectious!! You have done good. Thank you for making it "for us".

I was recently asked to read and review a book written by a friend on anxiety and panic disorder. It was a great read! Here's my review:

"How a Base Jumper Saved Me is a raw and honest account of trauma and it's long lasting effects on the nervous system. As Besser Van Der Kolk has solidified in our collective consciousness: the body keeps the score, as we find in panic disorder in particular, the conscious (thinking) mind and nervous system (below the level of thinking) can be divorced in these situations... Reuniting them is the goal and the practical steps Chris outlines in his book give a clear path to recovery.

Chris Breen's writing represents a humanistic account of how we can develop anxiety about our anxiety. Panic about our panic. As well as wonderful explanations about the scientific basis of the symptoms and specific ways to cope with it.

Chris Breen's light hearted way to approach the topic is likely going to be a hit with both men and women."

It has been an absolute pleasure working as a Supervisor for the Workforce Development Program over the last two years, as the program has assisted clinicians to develop their knowledge, skills, and expertise in the perinatal mental health field. It's so amazing to even be nominated for this award!! Good luck to all the nominees :)
