Chemical peels are professional treatments designed to gently exfoliate and refresh the skin’s surface. ✨

🧪 What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel uses carefully formulated acids to remove built-up surface cells and support natural skin renewal.

💡 Why might they be used?

Depending on the formulation, peels may be used to support:
• General skin maintenance
• Skin preparation before certain professional treatments
• The appearance of uneven tone
• Congested or oily skin
• Dull or rough texture

✨ Tailored to your skin
We stock a range of professional peels so treatments can be selected based on your individual skin type and goals.

📍 Not sure which peel is right for you?
Book a consultation with our team for personalised skin guidance.

Collagen is one of the most important structural proteins in our skin. ✨

It works like the skin’s natural support system, helping maintain firmness, strength and elasticity.

So what exactly is collagen and what happens as we age?

🔬 What is collagen?
Collagen is a naturally occurring protein found in the skin, bones, muscles and connective tissue.

🧬 How is collagen made?
Your body produces collagen using amino acids from dietary protein, along with nutrients such as vitamin C. Specialised skin cells (fibroblasts) assemble these building blocks into collagen fibres.

📉 What happens over time?
From our mid-20s onwards, collagen production gradually slows. Environmental factors such as UV exposure, lifestyle and natural ageing can also influence collagen levels in the skin.

💡 Why does collagen matter?
Collagen helps support skin structure, which contributes to the appearance of smoothness and elasticity.

Understanding how collagen works can help you make informed choices about skin health, protection and care as your skin changes over time.

📍 If you’d like personalised guidance about skin ageing and maintenance, our team is here to help.

Vitamin A is one of the most well-known ingredients used in skincare — all designed to support skin renewal and overall skin maintenance. There are several different forms and they don’t all work the same way.

So, what’s the difference?

🧬 Retinol
A common form of vitamin A used in skincare. Once applied, the skin gradually converts retinol into retinoic acid, which is the active form used by skin cells.

🔬 Retinal (retinaldehyde)
Retinal is another form of vitamin A that requires one fewer conversion step in the skin compared with retinol, which is why it’s often described as a more direct form.

🌿 Bakuchiol
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived ingredient often used in skincare formulations as an alternative to traditional vitamin A ingredients. It’s sometimes included in products designed for people looking for gentler options.

💊 Vitamin A (retinoids)
“Vitamin A” is the umbrella term for a family of ingredients used in skincare, including retinol, retinal and other retinoid derivatives.

📍 Not sure which option may suit your skin?

Not all vitamin A ingredients are the same strength or suitable for every skin type. Book a consultation and our team can help guide you through the options and how they may fit into your skincare routine.

✨ What Is Moisturised Skin? ✨

Moisturised skin is skin that has the right balance of water and natural oils, allowing it to stay soft, smooth, and healthy. When your skin is properly hydrated, it looks more radiant, feels comfortable, and functions better as a protective barrier to the elements.

Why is moisturised skin important?

💧 Helps maintain a healthy skin barrier
💧 Keeps skin soft, smooth, and supple
💧 Reduces dryness, flakiness, and irritation
💧 Gives your skin a natural glow
💧 Helps minimise the appearance of fine lines

How can you achieve moisturised skin?

✔️ Use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip your natural oils
✔️ Apply a quality moisturiser suited to your skin type
✔️ Drink plenty of water throughout the day
✔️ Include hydrating skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides
✔️ Protect your skin daily with SPF

Healthy, hydrated skin is the foundation of every great skincare routine. 🌿
Not sure which products are right for your skin? Our team at Elysium Skin Centre is here to help you find the perfect routine for lasting hydration.
