The Phoudini Project

The Phoudini Project The Phoudini Project funds AAC devices for children who cannot otherwise access them. He did not receive funding for his AAC until he was 8 years old.

You can contribute to our project here: https://gofund.me/0e67a05f

We are NOT currently registered as a NFP/Charity. The Phoudini Project is inspired by our son who is Autistic and non-speaking. We believe that the use of AAC devices should start before school age to give children the best chance to learn valuable communication skills before venturing out i

nto the world. All contributions made to The Phoudini Project go directly to funding AAC technology for children in need, specifically those under the age of 6 and those (of all ages) that have been denied funding from other entities.

When is a child considered non-speaking?

There’s no single age — but development gives us clear guidance:

• By 2 years → children typically use words
• By 3 years → children use short phrases
• By 4–5 years → speech is expected to be functional

If a child isn’t speaking by around 3, they may be identified as minimally speaking or non-speaking.

📌 Here’s what matters:

Early communication support — especially AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) —
✔ improves outcomes
✔ reduces frustration
✔ supports language development (including speech)

❗ Waiting delays access to communication.

And being non-speaking does not mean:
– lack of understanding
– lack of intelligence
– lack of desire to communicate

It means speech isn’t their primary communication method.

Access to communication is a human right.

Joel from Affinity Community Care is taking on the 5km Jetty 2 Jetty Run this year — and he’s running for a powerful cause.

Joel is raising awareness for non-speaking disabilities, particularly Autism, and he’s set himself an incredible goal: $1,000 for every kilometre he runs — that’s $5,000 in total.

Every dollar raised will go directly to The Phoudini Project, helping fund entry-level AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices for non-speaking individuals and their families. These devices give a voice to those who cannot speak, opening up a world of connection, expression, and independence.

Communication is a basic human right — and for many families, access to AAC can be life-changing.

Joel isn’t just running 5km… he’s running to help change lives.

If you’re able to, please consider sponsoring Joel and supporting this incredible cause. Every contribution, big or small, brings someone closer to being heard.

Let’s get behind Joel and make every kilometre count 💙

This amazing guy is the inspiration behind The Phoudini Project.

Our goal for this year is to launch a charity in his honour, having our project under that umbrella.

If you or someone you know is struggling to get an AAC device funded, please contact us. Take those mates that are in need. We want to help!

If you work at a daycare centre, a school, an ECDP, a Speech Therapy centre etc, please contact us. We want these devices accessible to everyone, escpecially small children, to give them the best chance of communicating sooner rather than later.

Check out these bad boys! 😎

These are the 'next level' up from the smaller entry-level AACs that we can provide. 😍

As you can see, these are bigger and have more buttons. This means more choices and further ability to include more personalised buttons. 🥰

If you are keen to secure one for your non-speaking loved one, please email us and we'll send you an application form! 🫶

I've had a few people ask how they can make a contribution without going through the GoFundMe link, so I've provided the details below.
We appreciate everyone's support and we can't wait to start fulfilling applications! Everyone deserves a voice of their own and no-one should have to pay for it! 💜

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We hope this answers at least some of them 💜
