Popped into MERLO and had a cracking toastie and one of the best cups of coffee you’ll find in this city. And yes, that’s saying something, even with all the high end eateries and over-complicated menus floating around in that area.

This is coffee done properly. No fuss. No ego. Just decades of passion in every cup.

What makes it even better? Meeting Dean Merlo himself. A genuine legend. Years ago, when I worked for a company that supplied tea, I had the pleasure of meeting him, and nothing’s changed. Still humble. Still obsessed with quality. Still all about people.

From Luigi’s trattoria in Italy ➡️ to cane fields in Mackay ➡️ to Brisbane changing the coffee game forever… this family story is woven into our city’s DNA. The first espresso machine in Queensland. Café Milano. Silver service dining. Royal visits. And now, generations later, still serving some of the best coffee around.

This isn’t just a café.

It’s history in a cup.

“Brace yourselves Brisbane, tonight this plate DID THINGS to me I cannot fully explained in a G rated environment 😈🍽️.

We’re talking sensual waves of butter, flirtatious whispers of lemon, and a saucy tango of herbs that basically seduced my tastebuds into submission.

This dish from New Farm Seafood is not just good… it’s culinary mischief wrapped in ocean silk.
Every bite dared me to slow down… I didn’t 😏.
I came. I saw. I tasted. And all I can say is, I’ll be back for round two 🍤💋.
