A potential byproduct of the buzz around nervous system regulation is we can begin to view dysregulation as bad or wrong.
In reality, nervous system dysregulation is often the appropriate response to the situation at hand.
Like when:
💜You receive upsetting news about a friend’s health and cry
💜You experience waves of grief at the sudden end of an important relationship
💜You abruptly remove yourself from a work conversation after a colleague violates your physical boundaries
💜You feel anger while reading about people becoming homeless due to the cost of living crisis
Rather than trying to stay in a constant state of calm – an impossible, and even harmful goal – at this Sunday’s Nervous System Bootcamp I’ll teach you how to validate and support yourself in times of overwhelm.
After all, sometimes modern life feels like a lot because IT’S A LOT!
You’ll learn to move between our three nervous system states in a more optimal, resilient way:
💜Social Engagement (Ventral Vagal) – ‘I feel safe, connected and curious’
💜Fight, Flight, Fawn (Sympathetic) – ‘I’m mobilised and reactive’
💜Freeze/Collapse (Dorsal Vagal) – ‘I’m overwhelmed and shut down’
When we learn to interpret nervous system states we become more attuned and compassionate towards ourselves, and towards others.
We start to make sense of our stress, our anxiety, our chronic procrastination.
We better understand what our body needs from moment to moment.
Through somatic exercises, restorative yoga, yoga nidra (yogic sleep meditation) and a liberal dollop of nervous system theory, you’ll walk away feeling:
💜More confident you can handle stress
💜More in control of your anxiety
💜More compassion for yourself and why you struggle
