Mother’s Day is a time of love, reflection, and remembrance.

For many, it’s a day to spoil Mum with hugs, laughter, and shared memories. For others, it’s a quieter day — one filled with longing, reflection, and love that lives on in our hearts.

At Meighans Funerals, we honour all the women who’ve shaped our lives — mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and mother figures — whether they are still with us or forever in our hearts.

Their love is eternal. It’s felt in every quiet moment, every gentle breeze, every cherished memory.

Today, we pause to remember. To feel. To give thanks for the bond that never truly ends.

To the mums we hold close, and the mums we hold in memory — we honour you, we thank you, and we carry your love always.

Grief can grow louder around special days - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and milestone moments.
Whether it's the first year without someone, or the tenth, these dates can stir up a deep ache that’s hard to put into words.

At Meighans Funerals, we want to gently remind you: grief is a natural response to love. And it’s okay if certain days hit harder than others.

Here are a few ways to recognise and manage grief as these moments approach:

• Acknowledge how you feel - suppressing emotions doesn’t make them disappear. Allow yourself to feel.
• Plan ahead - decide what you need from the day. That might be connection, solitude, or a mix of both.
• Create space for remembrance - light a candle, share stories, or honour a tradition that reminds you of them.
• Talk about it - with someone who understands or simply listens. You don’t have to carry it alone.
• Practice self-compassion - be gentle with yourself if things feel overwhelming. Grief is not a straight path.
• Do what feels right for you - skip the celebration if needed. Or create a new ritual that brings comfort.

Grief doesn’t fade on a schedule, and special days don’t need to look the same after loss. What matters most is giving yourself permission to grieve - and to heal - in your own time, your own way.

We’re here with you, holding space for every heart feeling the weight of a missing loved one.

Time moves faster than we realise.

In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to forget how precious the little moments are — the shared smiles, warm hugs, gentle words, and quiet comforts.

At Meighans Funerals, we’re reminded daily just how quickly time can pass. So today, we encourage you to pause, to hold your loved ones close, and to embrace the now.

Because the memories made in these fleeting moments will one day be the ones we cherish the most.
