We love being there for our communities, so when Broken Hill School Of The Air - Kids of Outback NSW invited us to attend their mini-school at Mount Manara Station, we were honoured to be welcomed into this incredible community.

The annual mini-school brings together distance education students from remote Australian areas for a week of face-to-face learning with teachers and peers; an opportunity for connection beyond their usual virtual classrooms.

Our Child and Family team created a "Zen Den" on site at the camp – a calming sanctuary with sensory tools where children could regulate emotions during their transition from small family settings to the larger social environment. One student even gave the Zen Den an "Infinity" rating, showing just how much they enjoyed and appreciated the space.

The week also featured We've Got Your Back (WGYB) Champion Brendan Cullen sharing his inspiring journey from SOTA student to English Channel swimmer.

Despite intense heat, rain, and mud, our dedicated team showed what being embedded in community truly looks like: listening to what families need and providing practical support to make a difference.

When Daniel first heard the word “melanoma,” he was understandably overwhelmed.

Daniel lives in Grawin, a small rural town about 60km away from Lightning Ridge. Thanks to the RFDS's fly-in, fly-out Grawin Glengarry Clinic, his skin cancer was caught early, and he could get treatment as soon as possible.

Fast forward to today. Daniel rang that momentous bell declaring the end of his treatment, normal life is resuming, and he's feeling hopeful about the future. Read his story: flyingdoctor.org.au/nswact/news/you-made-early-detection-and-access-life-saving-treatment-possible/

Come along between 10am - 11.30am (EST) on the 16th of September to listen to Llama Glamarama, a tale of a bouncing and bopping llama! Afterwards, we can dress up our own llamas to get them ready for the Glamarama 🪩

“Larry loves to groove and moooooove! But will others disapprove?
Larry the llama’s big secret is that late at night, when no one is watching, he loves to DANCE. Then, one day, he stumbles upon the Llama Glamarama! Will this raucous celebration give Larry the PRIDE he needs to drive his dance back home?"

G'day from Broken Hill! Clear skies and stunning views 😍 What more could you ask for?

Shoutout to our photographers, RFDS's Principal Advisor Aviation Safety, Ben Murray, and Head of Risk and Assurance

Congratulations to the Outback Air Race class of 2025 👏 They've touched down just yesterday after their mega 15-day flying adventure! These aviation superstars have raised nearly $950k for the RFDS, but it's not over yet…

The RFDS is there when you need us, no matter how far from help you may be. But our impact goes far beyond the moment of crisis.

For father of two, Hamish Noble, this Father's Day could have been very different - had it not been for the RFDS's swift response after a serious motorbike accident four years ago. Instead, his little ones are celebrating Father's Day with their fit and healthy Dad, just like they should. 💙

Distance should never be a barrier to healthcare. Learn more about Hamish's story: flyingdoctor.org.au/nswact/news/youre-the-reason-hamish-here-today/

Meet Krystal Farrelly, one of our new additions to the RFDSSE Retrieval Team.

Krystal knows exactly what it's like to be the solo nurse in a remote clinic, managing challenging scenarios until RFDS arrives with support. Now, after 15 years of working toward this goal, she's on the other side of that call as one of our new intake of flight nurses based in Broken Hill.

After an intensive induction week that covered everything from neonatal emergencies to complex farm accidents, Krystal's ready to be that extra set of hands to support regional and remote communities.
