After tracking my nutrition, I realized I was consuming less than half, sometimes only a quarter of the carbohydrates my body actually needed to recover and perform well.

For reference, research shows that moderate training (5–7 hrs/week) requires 5–7g of carbs per kg body weight, while heavy training or double days need 7–10g/kg.

At 87 kg training 6–10 hrs weekly, I was severely under-fueled.

If you’re training hard but still feeling fatigued or stuck, it might be time to reassess your fueling strategy.

I recently discovered that despite eating well, I was only consuming about 25% of the carbohydrates my body actually needed for proper recovery.

Carbohydrates are stored in your muscles and liver as glycogen, and during frequent or back-to-back training sessions, those stores deplete fast.

Without proper replenishment, the body perceives it as stress leading to elevated cortisol, disrupted sleep, low HRV, and slower recovery.
