The KTS Team were lucky enough to be invited to the Majarlin Awards 2025! 🌟

A huge congratulations to our very own KTS Physiotherapist, Troy, who was honoured with the Inspirational Award! 🏆

This award recognises the supervisors and preceptors who have made an outstanding contribution to student supervision within their local region— and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. Troy’s dedication to mentoring students and supporting their growth in the unique and remote Kimberley setting truly embodies the spirit of this award.

Marjalin is one of 21 University Departments of Rural Health (UDRH) in Australia, funded by the Department of Health, located in the incredible Kimberley region in the north of Western Australia. It facilitates quality allied health and nursing clinical placements for students from all Australian universities.

✨ Meet Hannah ✨

Hannah is an incredible final-year Master’s Physiotherapy student from Curtin University, and she’s just wrapped up one of her final placements with us here at Kimberley Therapy Services!

With a strong interest in paediatrics, Hannah jumped right into hands-on learning. She explored specialised Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) techniques and created fun, creative gross motor activities to support kids’ development. 🧩💪

Hannah also got a taste of Physio-led Pilates classes, designing some sessions with a few seriously tough abdominal sequences in the mix! 💪✨

On top of her clinic work, Hannah joined our outreach team of Physios and OTs, travelling out to Derby and Fitzroy Crossing—an incredible experience and a huge highlight of her placement. 🚐✨

This was Hannah’s very first time in the Kimberley, and she absolutely loved it. 💛 We’re so grateful for her hard work, energy, and passion—and we really hope to see her back up here in the future!

Last month, Annelise (Speech), Nicole (OT) and Ethan (Physio) hit the road for their first outreach visit to Looma Community — nestled at the base of the stunning Grant Range, 130km south-east of Derby.

Looma means blue tongue lizard in Walmajarri, and we’re proud to now be servicing this vibrant community every second Tuesday. 🦎☀️

✨ Last month we were lucky enough to be part of the Kununurra Careers Expo – what an incredible day connecting with students, community members, and local organisations! 💛 Our Blaze Pods brought plenty of laughs (and a bit of friendly competition 😉) while we chatted all things careers in allied health.

A huge thank you to the Kununurra Leisure Centre for hosting such a fantastic event and making us feel so welcome 🙌 We’re already looking forward to next year!

🎉 Meet Jess – our amazing 4th-year Physiotherapy student from The University of Notre Dame Australia, who just completed her final prac with us here at Kimberley Therapy Services!

Having visited the Kimberley a number of times before, Jess was thrilled to return and immerse herself once again in the stunning landscapes and welcoming community.

During her placement, Jess has shown a real passion for neuro and paediatric physiotherapy, while also strengthening her clinical skills and cultural understanding through hands-on learning with our KTS team. She even joined our outreach team on the road to Fitzroy Crossing, where she gained invaluable experience, including learning how to change a wheelchair wheel!

Originally from the South West, Jess loves the rural lifestyle and is dedicated to building her career in rural and remote health. When she’s not on placement, you’ll most likely find her outdoors, camping, walking, or exploring everything the Kimberley has to offer.

Thanks for joining us, Jess – we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next! 💫

☕👏 Big smiles and even bigger wins!

Our Physio Verity has been working closely with one of our participants to help choose the perfect new walker – a vital step in supporting his independence and confidence to walk into his favourite coffee shops.

Student Jess from The University of Notre Dame Australia also had the chance to see these goals in action during physio sessions, witnessing firsthand the impact of consistent, tailored support.

Moments like these are what it’s all about 💙
