Low appetite isn’t a flex honey. Your stressed body running on cortisol & adrenaline is suppressing your appetite.

🧠 When your body is under stress, your brain tells your adrenals to produce more cortisol to keep you functioning. The release of cortisol and adrenaline mobilises glucose mainly from your liver (glycogenolysis) which overrides hunger cues. This is the sympathetic nervous system (fight and flight) inhibiting the parasympathetic digestion cues (rest and digest).

This process is an evolutionary survival pattern that can be LIFESAVING in the short term.

However in the long term, this pattern can lead to adrenal fatigue, or more specifically - HPA dysregulation (brain -> adrenal dysfunction).

🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️Adrenal Fatigue Stage 1: Your system is burning hot. You’re wired, productive, have low appetite, running on stress fumes, probably not sleeping much. Cortisol is high here.

☕️Stage 2: Tired but wired. You’re experiencing AM fatigue, Afternoon crashes, anxiety and panic attacks, holding weight around the midsection, maybe seeing some PMS or period issues as progesterone starts to dive. Cortisol can still be high but also will be starting to dip.

😴Stage 3: Burnout. You’re exhausted, chronic bone crushing fatigue, dizzy, vertigo (maybe a POTS diagnosis), low stress tolerance. This is where we see COOKED AM cortisol levels at this point. You’ve got nothing left in the tank.

Burnout doesn’t just happen overnight. Stress sends cortisol through the roof first.

It breaks my heart how uninformed women are around their Thyroid, and how often they’re being told they simply have to just get used to these awful symptoms:

👉🏽Exhausted in their BONES (like dragging your body through cement)
👉🏽A ball of anxiety in their gut, from the second they wake up and for no apparent reason!
👉🏽Feeling puffy and bloated ALL THE TIME
👉🏽Hair that was once glorious and shiny, now dry and breaking
👉🏽And unable to manage their body temp; freezing cold one minute then sweating the next

🧘🏼‍♀️Honeys, as a mama who’s been through the depths of chronic illness, including uncovering my own Autoimmune Thyroid disease because docs refused to test me (because I didn’t “look overweight enough to have a thyroid disease” 😒) - I’m here to remind you, you have options!

My own health journey inspired me to become a Nutritional Therapist, and I use an incredible functional test (hair mineral testing) to uncover the data that gets missed in the mainstream system.

Let’s chat about these 2 markers:

🥝 Ca/K: reflects the uptake of thyroid hormone INTO THE CELL (blood tests show the thyroid hormones circulating in the blood - not in the cell where we need them to be!). When calcium is dominating the cells, thyroid hormones can’t bind to the cell receptor properly. The higher the Ca/K ratio, the more blocked your thyroid hormones are at the cell, even if your doc says your blood tests look “perfect” 😉.

🥝 Na/Mg: reflects the metabolic capacity of tissues to respond to thyroid hormone. Aka, you may have enough thyroid hormone circulating, but not enough ATP in the cell to actually process it! This is common in adrenal burnout.

This is where the meds aren’t actually the problem, nor are they going to solve the problem. The issue is LOW CELLULAR ENERGY and a body under stress!
