🌏 Strengthening Disability Services Across Remote WA

It’s fantastic to see our CEO, Kathy Hough, championing the voice of remote and regional communities at key disability sector forums. Her leadership ensures that the realities of living and delivering services in the Far North are heard loud and clear at a state level.

Last week, Kathy attended the Council of Regional Disability Services (CORDS) meeting in Perth, where members came together to shape the 2026 strategy and explore ways to build future leaders in regional and very remote communities.

This important conversation included:
✅ SDA and SIL housing challenges
✅ Worker accommodation and attraction
✅ Governance structures
✅ Pricing levers for remote service delivery

We’re especially proud that Kathy helped facilitate stronger connections between CORDS and senior leaders from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). Ensuring they understand the innovation, resilience, and challenges of remote WA is vital for fair and effective disability support.

Collaboration like this helps ensure that no matter where people live—coastal, inland, regional, or remote—they can access the quality supports they deserve.

Celebrate inclusion and community with us. Enjoy live entertainment, interactive information stalls, a vibrant art display, and a fantastic atmosphere as we come together to recognise International Day of People with Disability. 🎨🤝✨💙

MORE ABOUT VICTOR:
Victor is also a board member of Derby’s local radio station, 6DBY, and Chair of the Garl-Garl Sobering Up Shelter. His original song Big Red Bus plays regularly on local radio, and he has used his platform to raise awareness on important issues such as National Sorry Day.

Victor is working closely with Far North Community Services, the Derby Shire, DAHS, and other local organisation’s to launch the Derby Ability Reference Group.

The group will offer a safe and welcoming space for people with disability to build life skills, share knowledge, and connect with others. Victor’s vision continues to inspire, and in his own words, “Despite my disability, I have the ability.”
